how much water? ??? ??? ??? ???
it wasnt even that deep, maybe 1ft... i ran back and forth through it like 4 times total and then she started caughing and dying on me. The engine was having a REALLY hard time starting and there is a brand new battery in there. I opened my lid and there was some sings that water went through the intake (water marks on the bottom of the airbox) but didn't FILL the airbox. anywho tomorrow i will do a complete flush like 4 times.
I did the same, I wanted to cross a river, but a rock jammed between my chain and rear sprocket, I stalled and the front end got down in the river bed. It was just high enough to enter my air box, my buddy towed me to the river side and the engine was full of water...
6 oils change later, the engine finally dropped clean oil
Forgot to put the plug on when i refilled with yamalube
Put my new g-force axle in today  It is a very nice quality piece and is also 4 inches wider than stock
went to a local store and found a strip of yellow LED's for $9, bought two sets, and 2 sets of blue ones for my bro inlaw, stocking stuffers ;)
now i have to install them, i am thinking that i am going to run them along the inside of the frame above the engine, if they work well and i like the look ill pick up another set and install them under the hood to put a glow onto the rad
After a month of stoppage, finally discoverd what was wrong with my girl. The stock ECU (CDI) died on me... :'(
Had a friends cdi over and it started at first try.
This was after hours around every wire and plug and bla bla... Error 33 code it said, and that is coil not cdi...
At least now I know what to change to get her running again!
And drop a CCP stabiliser also, to welcome her back! ;)

Da humpty seat, is really neat - so do the hump ...
is it bad that my nose and glasses look that way normally :(
Yesterday I washed it clean, repaired my faulty front brake switch ( bad contact IN the switch ) and flipped my rox mounting bracket for handguards to allow the hand brake to be used
Today, I'm going to beat the hell out of it

Hit a BIG rock with my rear skid plate and she didn't protect enough.. bent my rear rotor
Made a wheelie while my friend in front pushed hard his brake... Because of my rear bent rotor, it didn't brake well and front end was in the air so... BOOM. Scratched my yfz shocks, and broke my OEM bumper...
My friend rolled over with his rappy, bent the axle, handlebars and a rim....
Yep, we still got some problem controling those beast I should say.

Tell me about it!!! Couldn't justify spending the $$ on under ground wire and having it dug in. And then in Minn they'd require an inspector to come out... so... I did the 2nd best thing. Big ass extension cord. not bad since I'm only in their maybe 2 days every other week.
Installed Rox riser block and ODI grips. Now the throttle cable is to tight and it is revved up real high. So tomorrow, if I can't find enough slack to make it right they will have to come back off. BUT they state "Block Risers are designed to raise the stock bars the maximum amount without having to replace the clutch and throttle cable or front brake line." ??? ??? ???
put her back together... after my last ride i had stripped the plastic off and checked my TPS, (my bro inlaw's quad was running like shit and when i checked his TPS it was over 1V) so i figured i might as well check mine as well... (0.64 :) )
so tonight i buttoned everything back up, did a once over of the important bolts, and loaded her up so i am ready to go at 7am tomorrow...
riding with a YFZ 450, a Honda 450, and a honda 400... should be a fun day in the lead :)
thought about ordering new Kenda Klaws and ITP smooth wheels.
Randi, I'd hate to be the one to roll that coard at the end of the day!
FYI your front tires are on backwards. I bet you stop really well
Installed Sidewinder chain and sprocket kit
Well between noon yesterday and 9am this mornig, yeah 21 hours. Tonto13 and I, tore the TB, head, cylinder, clutch, axle, carrier, front shocks, piston, nerf, and plastics off. Then reinstalled a new 12.5:1 piston, new clutch with Ron Woods HD springs, Slingshot lockout, cleaned up an already clean head, added a 54White Knuckle TB, a 3" straight tube w/K&N (bigger then FCI), readjusted front shocks, did a little bit of machine work to the carrier and swinger (To much power kept spinning carrier, now reeeeeally to much power). Installed about 20 blue anodized bolts (thanks Socal) aaaaaand a few other things. Bike runs super strong, tight and crisp, can't wait for Troy to fine tune it for me.
I need to thank Tonto13 for lending his help, knowledge, shop, tools, and the shittiest f'n farts in the WORLD. Here's a couple of pics of the last 24 hours.
Keep your eyes pealed for future builds from us.

Feels as if ignition gave it as much extra punch as big3 did but not quit as much but close just seat of pants feeling.
Pulled off the paddles. CLeaned the air filter. Outerwear came off at dunes. It was a mess in there. Stocker kept the sand outta the motor though.

I think we don't know enough about this build.....
Well im not going to lie to you Krandall. I did the math and me making the LS Rally might not happen. I cant get vacation until late September this year because of the companies vacation policy. Might just have to do the picture thing after all. If that is the case ill spill the beans sometime later this week. :( Sucks though I wanted a little surprise for everyone at the Rally. Not to mention letting everyone take some rips on that rocket. *Fingers Crossed*
Well, keep it a secret until them..
Still waiting on an RS sticker pic 8)
you know what I'm talkin about!
Ok so here is the deal on that pic Kran. The white sticker that looks good and contrasts well on the aircraft I kind of.....used :) They day before you asked me to take the pictures. I tried the blue sticker on the 30mm cannon but it doesnt contrast against deep green of the barrel. How much for a bunch of white stickers shipped out here? Ill toss them up everywhere :).
Ok the LS Rally is first week in October.....im an idiot. I should be able to work that one out. Im really excited to show it at LS. Even though I probably cant ride it cause wont have ridden it since October 2009.
*This page took 7 minutes to load* Yay!

got my motor completly tore down and removed the throttle body. also installed a time- sert into my case, where the threads pulled out :( gonna order my new parts the beggining of the week 8)
did some tuning on the dobeck. It did have a midrange stumble when I used suggested settings. Runs good now, initial plug check ok. But that was high speed buzz down the street. No stumbles or pops, and she sounds good. Only a good ride to tell for sure now. Friggin winter.

I'm hearing the same thing. I got an email Friday stating that several parts would be an additional two week. Who knows they must be wait for several order before manufacturing the parts. Plus in my previous order two accessories wouldn't fit. The holes were off by more than an inch making it impossible to jerry rig it. I canceled my order for a new set of Blingstar Nerf Bars once I saw the new Houser Suspension Nerf Bars. If you haven't seen them, check them out.
https://www.houser-racing.com/WSWrapper.jsp?mypage=video/Store_Nerf_Bars_2010.htm
Installed Fox Shocks Front & Rear (took forever to arrive because I guess they had to build them for us fat guys over 250lbs!!!), Precision Stabilizer, Swing Arm, Houser A-Arms, Hiper Wheels, Razor II front & Razor Back, Houser Stem, Break Lines and Lonestar Axel. Still waiting for Houser Nerf Bars, Grab Bar and Bringstar Accessories.

I tried the heel guards that came with the bike and they wouldn't fit.
Are your pipes ceramic coated?
Looks VERY clean!! :)
I tore my bike apart on Saturday.
head came off. cylinder will come off probably next weekend. I've had a small leak on the back part of my base gasket (cylinder to case) So we'll get that taken care of as well as re-ring it.

krandall, i had the same leaking gasket on mine thats why i tore it down. turns out all i needed to fix it was a 105mm cylinder with a cp 12:1 piston, racers edge +2-+2 head with webb4,and a 54mm TB and custom intake & denso pink injector  I took mine apart to put on a new base gasket and this is what i did. I have a brand new, still in the wrapper yamaha base and head gasket for stockbore 700 you can have for shipping cost
I'm interested. :)
The head gasket won't do me any good (727) but if you want to split them, I'm interested as well.
Well shes down. On sat we went riding on a super bike track and at the end of the day I highside it, in the top of 3rd gear and she went over and over... Damn so the right side head light, steering stem, radiator, bars and top part of frame are all jacked up or bent or broke, as for me my right side ribs/back and sholder are banged up but I will heal up in a week or two or three at my age healing is SLOWER... On a good note she ran great all day.. :(
Dang, bummer to hear Dales.
At least all that stuff is fairly minimal. Hopefully there's no frame or subframe damage..
any pics?
No pics, it makes me sick to look at it. I have worked on it some this week but my ribbs and back are killing me and It's hard get my breathe.
Bummer, did you get to the doctor to make sure no ribs are broke :(
hope you get better man.
Dales im sorry to hear it. But rebuilding is all part of the fun. Would love to see some pics
Rode the shit out of it.
Michael
I started to working on it today, Bent the frame back up 1/2in and then bent the stearing stem back and I am now working on the radi. oh Good news, my chain came in it's blue and brake pads..
Installed my new Case Saver, Dr. D reverse kit, tightened chain (Thanks Pat) relocated the key, took off the Parking Brake lever and cable. All While at work.. lol

And Yes, I know my Reverse Lever is upside down, and on the wrong side.. but it wouldnt work with the moose dual throttle on the brake side. Sooo.. I did some Presidential Engineering.
:om:
We tried to go for a ride, but the snow is still too damn deep
Just ordered a Hot Rods 5 mill stroker crank from my local bike shop and a 734 big bore kit from trinity racing. Spun the stock rod bearing and ate up the piston and jug so had to get it all.
Ouch, sorry to hear that...With the +5 crank and 105.5 bore I think your final CC is 778? Should be a strong runner with the right head work
I added a set of graphics to mine Saturday. The dynatek should be here today and working on setting up a complete +6 swingarm w/axle and carrier I can swap out with the stock arm depending on what I am doing.
Adjusted the valves tonight getting it ready for the dyno this weekend hopefully. Also put in a spark plug.
I hope it runs good Spartan 727. This is the second time in 4 months i have had to split the cases . I broke 3rd gear last time and had to split the cases to replace it and put the 12.0:1 CP piston in.
dang. 2nd time.
Knock on wood, I'm yet to need to split my cases. I dread the day I do honestly.
Its really not that bad after you do it the first time. Just have to buy a flywheel puller. Its alot easier to work on when its on a work table though. I have split mine twice and my buddys 660 once. I hope it stays together longer than a few months this time. But while you got it down might as well go bigger with what you do have to replace.
Go Big or Go Home!
Thats what i think. Where is a good place to get head work done and get a bigger throttle body?
A Bigger TB I'm honestly not sure who's doing boring now. Tech Quad Shop would be a good stop. I think he has some on shelf TBs.
Porting would come down to how much you want to spend.
There's a few companies doing CNC porting. (Barkers Exhaust, Racers Edge, Team Rocket Factory) I think they are all running in the 700ish area.
If you're looking for a more economic valued port. Bo White would be THE man. He's on here name is "VelociRaptor"
I bet he's done a couple hundred heads (if not more). He currently has mine now. But he has some really good priced porting options with excellent results as well.
Put new bearings and added a grease nipple (zerk) on the bearing carrier.Just waiting for my Lonestar axcalibar mx axle to turn up now. Then i be out riding again
Still waiting for my custom coloured Motowoz LT front and rear shocks. Its now been 8 and half weeks :( Jim has my Bopp +2 big ground clearence
Cool. I appriciate the info. I was wanting to get +1 valves and ported a bit. I heard the bigger throttle body picks it up a bunch but im not sure.

For sure. the more you do to your motor the more the larger throttle body shines! I forget what bo's price is for his T-Rex port. But it comes w/ + 1 valves.. I'm pretty sure its around $500.
Thats a good price. Just didnt want to send it to someone and have some shitty work done. And im gonna need head work done sometime soon with the big bore going on this weekend. You can get alota money sunk in a quad but it sure does make it better when u out run everyone.

It adds up quick... I can assure you. Myself as well as a LOT of others on here can attest for Bo's work. If you'd like to get ahold of him, shoot him a PM or if you want to call him, I can PM you his phone number.
I'll try finding some pics of his work. He does wonders though.
Here's some of his latest work he's done. I believe this is Preddy08's head.
This is bo's "Megalodon" Port.

Bo's work is great for the price call him forsure and he is fast only took like 2-3 days for me
...I undressed it with my eyes
Looks like he does a bad ass job. Some of the ones i have seen dont clean them up that much just mainly around the valves. If you could get me his number that would help me a bunch. Where is he out of? I live in Texas.
He's based out of Alabama.. His turn around time depending on the port is 2-3 weeks (thats what it was the last time I talked to him)
pm coming to you. :)
 bo does really good quality work. customer service and turnaround time are very good. I ran his T-rex port for 2 years with a +2 throttle body. and letme say it ran very good
Rode in some extreme mud today, it was great to get out and ride but the biggest challenge was being able to see through my goggles and hang on to my slimy grips.
Racing or a practice run?
If you are referring to me, it was just a practice run, but didn't work out to be a good practice day. It did however provide some valuable seat time.
I have ran Bo's ported +1 head for a year now and it works great. As for Bo's porting it's as good as it get. He does not just do a clean up on the port, it's a great flowing port job.. The +3 TB is also a great mod. it added 3.25 hp to mine. Well my ribbs are still sore, but it's almost back up now.
+1 Bo's headwork is awesome.
O yeah i got a New 2009 Rappy 700 today 8)

mine is there right now getting + 1 head and replacing my hot cam stage 2 with a x-2 cam. I'm pretty pumped to get it back and see what she feels like.
finished up the spark plug wire replacement. Then took it for a spin. VERY happy with the outcome of the "little three" mods. 3rd gear wheelies without tug on the bars now.
Then I had to wash it because the nearrest gravel road I usually take to get out of town was no longer gravel. Solid mud. :(

ok well i had a busy weekend :) i did the sparkplug mod, I put my parking break on in a different location, i installed my +3 TB (and it was a royal PITA mostly because of me lol), i set my TPS and recalibrated my PC5 and installed a new map (thanks Aaron for the map), and i adjusted my reverse (thanks Alkrie for the insight of why it was shifting from 1st to reverse without turning the reverse knob) and it will be seeing a dyno hopefully this wednesday.

Well there was a write up on MR with it showing how the fuse or resistor or whatever is in the plug cap on the stocker and pulling it off and changing the cable increases spark. Then guys were having starting trouble and no spark so it sounded like another "SPAL fan rewire" so I skipped it. But if yours is working ill take the Peels how to any day! :)

hmm. No problem here, which is odd, because I usually fall into murphy's law category.
"So Easy... a meth headed tweaker Peelz can do it"
Alkrie, im sure the issue is with people not threading the wire in completely, or not having a good wire to begin with, i fought like a  to get my 8.8 MSD wire in there, and i will carry my old one along for a month or so in case this does burn out or do something stupid.
I guess, but when you show me a picture, say its easy and I follow you step by step and it doesnt work, man that rips my chain. It just wastes time. Like my SPAL fan doesnt even turn on anymore because of that "rewire".
I checked and checked and used a multimeter and got wiring diagrams for the SPAL rewire, followed everything I could and it went from surging to not even turning on. All those issues with my coolant and the overtemp at LS were because of it not turning on, it just overtemped over and over
that sucks ballz... can't SPAL be held liable at all?
Quote from: Krandall on March 16, 2010, 07:22:52 AM

Well im 90% sure that the fan is still good but its not wired to anything that it should be to operate. I think the directions were just  up. SPAL cant be at fault because the fan is not designed for the Raptor 700, its designed to be a performance fan for anything, they just added a raptor mount bracket to it. You have to splice to install it, its not plug and play. The first ride it just surged on and off and on and off as the bike overheated. It draws too many amps ( I think thats right) so the system cant carry what is needed to run the fan. The rewire was to use higher gauge wire routed to the headlight relay (if memory serves) so when my headlights are on the fan is always running. Stupid? Yes. Better than the bike overheating when I ride? O yea. If it worked.
yikes. that is crap-tastic
why didnt you run a seperate relay and have the thermal switch in the rad (i think thats where it is) trigger it on and off? Unless your thermal switch isnt working ??? Using the Headlight relay is just a dumb idea, and if you made a relay harness you could easily add a light to come on when the fan is on, so you dont have to stop the bike crawl underneath to see if the fan is turning or not. I could be persuaded to build such a harness......... if you dont have the skillz
PM Alkire. for the spark plug mod. no biggie.

DL700 is running around here, it was his HOW TO. Like I said, I cant remember it all that well now but the reason the headlight relay was used is because you can get the fan to work on a switch. I guess wiring in a new relay would be a lot more work and this was supposed to simplify it. He and other SPAL fan owners have the same issue. When it goes to turn on it just surges and never reaches full speed before it shuts off for a few seconds then comes back up. I tossed that at the Joka, it was going to be apart of my winter rebuild to rewire it properly however since Kev is handling everything I wanted to do personally, hes got it taken care of.
Rode the crap out of it for some exercise and suspension and tire testing. X-Rex's rock !!!
Just ordered my 105mm Rings and the new head gasket :woot:
can't wait to get everything back together. I'm getting really antsy!!!
Got my Lonestar Axcalibar MX axle today and installed :nana: It looks awesome and was a piece of cake to fit.Just waiting for my Bopp +2 LT big ground clearence arms, dual gasser and ASV pro holiday pack to be sent now.Just wainting on Jim at Motowoz to custom colour my shocks

I got a email back from Jim yesterday and he said the shocks should be anoized this week,he's going to watch the process as then he can decided when to have the parts taken out, as the longer they are left in, the darker the colour gets. He's had to use a new guy for andoizing my shocks,as his usual guy couldnt get the right colour :( thats why its taking so long
very cool shrimps.
I actually like the carpet. ;)
looks good
Can you say Night Racing 300" Drags. I ran the crapp out it. My best run was 5.2 at 57mph. My ribbs are still sore but the Raptor ran so good all night..
not bad. get under the 5.0 mark and you're sittin good 8)

hopefully can get most of it ready to rock this weekend.
Started knocking the sand off it after spending a week on the dunes at Coos Bay, Ore.
Crashed, into another fence post  :watchout: Bent the tie rod,so no more riding till my new suspension/arms turn up :( Hurt my wrist, neck and ribs at the back on the right side, due to being thrown of the quad into a wire fence.Just lucky it wasent a barb wire fence
Finaly got all my stuff put together and working. When bought the big bore kit from Trinity they didnt tell me with the big bore and stroker crank that i would have to run head studs instead of bolts  so that was another week down waiting on the stud kit from team rocket factory. Glad i called those guys they helped out alot. But got it broke in and took it to Kermit Sand Dunes this weekend and ran great.
Bummer man.
I got to put my motor together Saturday. Drive it, and take it all apart sunday morning.

went to go start her up and i left the key in the ON position:(!!! Good thing i have a spare battery:)
Also installed my replacement dynatek. Now its time to RIDE.

Sticking with the stock red and white for now. I'll post pics once it gets here
Replacing right headlight assembly on wife's quad.
She barrel-rolled her Raptor off a stump last summer and broke the scaffoid bone in her hand. After fourteen weeks in a cast she's all healed up and ready to go riding.
Gotta love a gal like that.
Motor sent to Gunz

Today I started the install of a new Trail Tech Vapor speedometer onto my 2008 700R. Needless to say it kicked my 54 year old back and now I can't move. Starting to think I'm getting to old for this. Noooot! Hope back is ok tomorrow would really like to get this done.
never to old, man!!!
Sending a text to roy in a few mins, gonna see if my motor shipped out this AM :)
Got a new set of roller bearings for the swinger (due to an issue @ SL that I'd rather not talk about)
And ordered new straps/springs/exhaust gaskets for the pipes :)
Got a BASS ??? Box from Wandi in the mail
Hope all looked okay/as expected :)
Ordered up a new wavy disc and sintered pads for the rear and a new disc guard for the front :)
I've been hesitant to put my drilled rotor on the back, heard horror stories about people getting dirt plugged in the holes and actually wearing out brake pads faster. :(

Ive never had problems with my rear overheating so I dont even consider it. I need a new rear rotor though, mine is worn into from being there for so long.
Ive been on the fence since this big 'ol girl overheated her front rotor at the GNCC. May have been a bearing problem but her wheel fell off, front left rotor disc collapsed into pieces and the bearing stayed seized and completely marred on the front spindle. It was a sight to see. I figure either the bearing wasnt packed right or she overheated the rotor trying to stop herself, that was no easy task for her quad im sure.
Man.....she was a big gal.
Arent the fronts slotted even on the old beasts? ??? makin me think. I can't remember now.... I scored an se rear rotor a while back for the price of shipping basically, just been sitting on the shelf since. If you want a drilled one (its a stock one...) let me know, you can have it. :)
While we're talking about rotors and stuff. When I was fitting my new Yamaha SE wavy rear disc I noticed it had 'BRAKING' written on it. So I looked it up on the net and found these people...
http://catalogo.braking.com/bk/catalogo/template.asp?cp=354&id_prod=3918&id_modello=1&id_tip=0 (http://catalogo.braking.com/bk/catalogo/template.asp?cp=354&id_prod=3918&id_modello=1&id_tip=0)
They seem reasonably priced also.the € 76.00 is $100usd and is cheaper than what motosport has oem rotors listed for :)
I put on my new oil tank, it's 3/4 of a qt bigger and it looks kool too.
Is it a JVR one?
and that's a SWEEEEEETT avatar!!!! BADASS BRO!!!
Ya JVR. Had to pull the header to get it in.. It's a good thing that I did this Mod the pickup tube had crap all over it (Like a gray mud) So I cleaned it real good and reinstalled it.. $99.00 shipped
The pic is on the flat track at CAW..
sweet! and yea. I don't think many people pay attention to that pickup tube. That's a good catch now. Would only create issues down the road
So, if you need a clutch. As I did just replace mine, you mite wont to it at least check the pickup tube..
got my motor @ my apartment now. I'll make sure before hooking up all the oil lines tomorrow to check them.

I know, mine are a little scraped up in the end :( I heard of the big screwdriver trick afterwards, but I didn't want to risk breaking the clamps, they're expensive  Gonna get mine PCed when I have my pipes done.
I roaded all day Saturday and had a great time. I lost one drag race to a CR500, my Reverse Rev Limiter came on. I unpluged it and put it back on and he would not race me again. So I got home and started cleaning, Damn I bent the inside of my front rim (lip) back about a 1in all well had a Great Time..
nothing. haven't touched it in weeks. No time, and then when I do get time, it rains so damn much, I might as well load it on the Ark.
Havent seen mine since November.... sigh :(
Went riding this past weekend, snapped a tie rod end @ the threads... that was fun 10 miles away!!!!
Changed brake lines (started yesterday, finished today :woot:) took it for a test ride and nearly threw myself off it on a hard stop. Also found more PC bubbling up...lovely. See Evolution of a fail thread in quad pics section for more on the story.
Lets see. Put my new ODI grips on, checked my valves, polished my back rims ones with paddles on them, polished nerf- bars, shifter lever, and break lever, cleaned the sprocket up some, armor alled my tires, and mounted my video camera mount. All this just to get ready to go to St. Anthony's.
Tomorrows agenda change the oil.
The backup bike got a set of Barkers, a new e-brake handle and oil change. The big bike got a set of Carbon Fiber Barker big bores, a programmable dynatek, the biggest intake available for a 54tb, new sprockets, new b2b 72ro Skats, oil change, radiator flush, new grab bar, and another surprise for the Rally. Multiply dyno sheets coming to a screen near you.

Changed the oil/filter and tightened the chain. So the sister could take it this weekend.

put my go pro mounts on the quad. i have one on my helmet and now i put two on the raptor. one on the brake fluid resivour by the front brake lever, and one on the warning label on the rear fender, facing backwards. should be interesting to see how well they work.

Just changed the oil...waiting on headlight trim piece to come in now.
bout time chimo u need to stop neglecting that poor baby not only did u beat it you dont change the oil
Air filter cleaned...oil status good and still in the tank...I gotta pick up some crush washers from the dealer I guess, I have no idea wtf happened to mine...but this is the first time I changed it since August
Finally got around to pulling the spark arrester out of the stock muffler. Man what a difference. Can't wait to take it out around the neighborhood and see what it sounds like above idle.
Hope your lid's on  Unless you got a programmer...It definitely makes a nice rumble removed...but the exhaust is still very restrictive inside.
I added a goody or two to mine :batman:
Yeah i still have the lid on. This little trick will last me til i get some extra $$$ for a programmer and full system. Already blowed my wad on a new dirty bike and extras for it so the quad will have to wait a bit.
Finally put my HIDs on
Nice...Factory headlights or independent Trailtech-ish style?
Having the spark arrestor out makes a huge difference in sound once the rpm's get up a little. Went ahead and repainted the end cap with some sparkly silver ceramic paint while i was at it. I wasn't looking for more power doing this just a little more noise so i got just what i was aiming for. 8)
Removed factory exhaust, installed intake & K&N. Tomorrow, adjust valves, replace bent tie rod, Monday, install Barker's.
Dyno tires installed, cleaned it up a bit too cause it was getting dusty :(
brushed the cobwebs off of it. :)
Thought about it.
Just changed back to dirt tires...broken clutch :(
I did admire my clear cam cover...it got a lot of attention at the dyno...
They are sweet, and a cool way to tell if you have oil circulating :)
And if your sprocket falls off the cam...
lol.

I don't know yet but I don't think it's the head. It was dripping off the left side headlight. I thought that was odd, I'll get it cleaned up and start looking this weekend.
Dang, hopefully it's not the radiator. that's the only thing (other than the overflow) that I can think of that's over there.

Yeah, I took the grill off and that's where it was coming from (overflow) and the reservoir is a little low. I never seen the temp light come on and we rode in 90 degree weather so the coolant must have been boiling. I'll check it out more after I clean it up and let it run for a while.
Hey guys, just a cautionary note. I noticed this when i swapped the new oil tank in that my oil line that draws oil out of the oil tank (Bottom hose) was nasty.
That line has an about 2.5" screen tube surronding it inside the oil tank....it was partially (1/3) covered with crap (even parts of leaves). That couldn't of been helping oil flow. Might be something to look at when you guys do a detailed maintence on your bikes.
Aaron

Well pulled my clutch apart today, yup the steels were phucked too. Ready to ride :rev:
WOW! I seized the rod to the crank in Jan running at high speed on the ice. After a quick rebuild I had lost 5th gear but waited until after the racing season to dig into it again. I tore it down in April and found 6 bad gears in the tranny (5 worn and 1 missing a tooth). Then she sat for 3 months while I coached soccer and neglected her. :(
I re-assembled the tranny and lower half twice because I'm a dumbass and realized I had forgotten the oil sump after I had the head on..... But once it was back in the bike she cracked right off and ran like a dream. We had a big summer riding party this weekend and she ran like a champ. :) Waiting for the ice now!!!
Washed it after last weekends ride at W.N.F. No riding for me this weekend :(

Giving it to my brother once i return it mostly back to stock (keeping the G force axle, Hot cam, Pro design intake) and other little odds and ends that i don't have time to remove.
Then going to sell his stock raptor, figure i wont get more for mine with the extras so might as well trade it with family.
removed the rear shock and shipped it to WiigStyle for some love. Currently waiting on my 734 BB to show up so I can look at it. Probably going to change the oil while its down for the shock.
SWEET!!!!!!
Some day I'll have some coin to get my rear-shock redone. Wiig does top notch work for sure.
Thats what I hear, its putting a dent in my riding fund but needs to be done all the same. I suffer from a big ass and have very little travel on the stock setup. Plus I dont think its supposed to make that wooshing sound

Got the new front end (Houser A-arms) adjusted. Tightened up the Motowoz. Emptied out the gas tank, needed to get rid of the Nitro Methane. Installed the Pinky.

Actually I was speaking about the Polaris Ranger XP which my father owns, as I figured that a full size side by side with a rear roll cage was your aim. I do not like the length of the RZR4.
As for reliability concerns, if I can overcome them then I imagine many others can as they seem to be more in my head than actually happening these days.

also wanted to say that my 15/36t combo has to be the most trail friendly setup i have ever had the pleasure of running. bro inlaw bottoming out his rappy... (LT Elka triple rates built for him)
damn that was a good day... found a new sand pit to ride at that we hadnt been to before... and there was no one else out there so we pretty much made our own little track.
Nice pics
we got about 500 pictures and about an hours worth of video... took turs riding and shooting with my little point and shoot... now i just need to find some time to try and edit a video of it... and we had a blast... this was my first time with my paddles on... now i know why you guys are always saying you need longer swingarms... haha
Get smaller paddles haha, but yeah when paddles hook up, they HOOK UP  drag racing at LS I would wheelie sometimes when I think it'd spin.
Finally got my rebuild 100% complete....Upgrades from my previous setup: RE + 1 CNC head, Web4 Cam, 12:1 CP stock bore piston, FCI. My phone camera is broke or I would've had some more pics during the build but a final complete pic will have to suffice...

Black Friday Deals
Got me some parts, lots and lots of parts!!
so i woke up this morning thinking of taking her virginity and the more the day past on the more i didnt think it would happen. Just a couple hours later I had ripped her a part and it felt so good to make her drip ... and for all you sick minded people im talking about my Raptor.... Ripped the head off and am getting ready for a comp bump and a port and polish with a stage 2 cam pictures to follow soon
Just started a top end build on mine also. New piston, cam, exhaust, eliminate air box lid, and change PC tune.
had to drill tap and install 4 time-serts in the case where the cylinder bolts to. The threads pulled out of 1 hole during the last assembly,so i just did all 4. Then tore the motor down and had to split the cases to re-seal the 2 halves. the sealer i used before apparently didnt work to well and blew oil out right under the starter. havent rode it in a little over a year because i was to pissed off to tear it down again. the motor is completly back together and fixed. just gotta clean the frame up and order my new whiteknuckle 105.5 cylinder and piston this week and put it back in the quad. pretty sad that my quad has spent more time tore apart since i bought it new than its been ridden. LOL

Why not go with a 108 cylinder or a sleeved 105.5 to save some cash
?
I dont really want or need to go up to a 108 bore. and i have had a sleeved cylinder and not a real big fan of it. So im just gonna spend the coin and do everything right this time and go over everything,so i can finally get some riding in this year

what you have against the sleeve?
Ordered new nets
well it was a used cylinder that was sleeved and came with a homemade stud kit. My opinion is that sleeving the rappy head makes it weaker, and is just a cheap alternative. otherwise they would have came from the factory sleeved and not nikasilo coated, i know car motors get sleeved all the time but there is more material to work with JMO. I know alot of you guys are having good luck with yours, but i would rather spend the money on a new 105.5 bore casting that is built better than factory cylinder and nikasil coated. I have had no good luck anytime i have tried to cut a corner or try to save money. As for the trinity 108 kits they come with a JE piston which would then have to have the valve reliefs flycut for my bigger valves, and bore the cases bigger which is to much hastle for a few HP that i probably wouldnt feel anyway

Can i post what i did to my yFZ? ok im going to anyway! i ordered a set of Houser Pro Bounce (they gave me 15%off:-D) anddddd also am trying to get a nice bumper, but all the ones out there are ugly. I loved the GYTR for the raptor...

Soak the corner in oil, rub it in gun powder and just sit back and hope they cant trace it back to you. haha, is it really coming? I could use a pick me up, this place sucks nuts!
Yup, I don't know how long it takes to get over there. I assume they put some sort of priority on soldier packages. I dunno.. It takes like a week to get stuff to Australia. So I'd assume it'll take somethin like that to you.
Let me know when you get it! :)

they work fine if you don't jump the quad at all, but do have limitations if you do.
Are you any good with a drill & hacksaw, or have access to an engineering shop?

No not yet Darryll.
Unloaded it from the trailer, took a deep breath ... and decided to do start cleanup and maintenance another day (I rode more than 200 miles over the past couple of days).
UPDATED (4/04): Washed the Oregon off of it. She was a dirty, dirty girl.
Adam @ motoadventure got all the remaining circlip out, ordering a couple shift forks and gaskets, and a new clutch basket...should be ready to rock next week.
Installed my ASV levers  Now waiting for my Flexx bars from TQS to reinstall them again

Nick....you live on Queen St? :gunny:
Sorry guy, I couldnt help myself
The wheels and tires look great
Washed the Mount Saint Helens of my quad after spending the weekend riding at Moses Lake, Wash.
Next up: Installing carrier bearings and new seals. I had to park my Raptor during the trip after a buddy noticed my left rear wheel and axle 'bouncing' while I was midair.
Apparently I was one more jump away from being this guy ...
I hate that
1. Adjusted Valves.
2. Put chain on.
3. Got some longer bolts for my nerfs (that go to where the motor mounts are)
4. Put gas in it (non cherry scented 110....)
5. Put new map on it.
6. Started it.
7. Realized shifter was at my apartment *facepalm*
8. used a vice grip and put it in 2nd gear.
9. Started it and rode around in 2nd.. It was awesome!!!!!
Finished it, thanks to a few really good friends.

My stock skids are holding up so far and i'm suprised because spider lake is pretty rocky. I am going to order some aftermarket soon. This next month I'll ad a few things.

Thanks man. I would like to take the credit for the graphics install, but Scooters put them on a while back as they are his old plastics. I have done a few sets in the past, just took my time and made sure everything was sitting in the sun before I installed them.
Picked up a new ride yesterday.

Is that the legendary DR400?
Yeah DR-Z 400, 2002 with 3,500 miles for 2450. Bone stock except lower gearing & the guy had some intermediate tires he threw in. Ridden 150 miles so far and its a Blast !

Dale what parts did you bolt on, OEM stuff or aftermarket. I had good luck with EBC sintered pads until I let my buddy ride it & he rode the rear brake till it was smoking. Dumbass. Now I need pads, fluid swap & maybe a rotor, I haven't decided on the rotor yet. You guys think my heat cycled rotor is ok yet? Brittle or weaker? On RMATV OEM rotors were close to the price of aftermarket I thought....
I would think it'd be weaker. Probably won't have the stopping power since it's been hardened.
I would use it if it was not warped but if you want to be extra careful I love my Tusk ventilated rotor
Installed my 13t front sprocket, replaced my twisted footpegs, installed my Pro Armor XC nerfs and my Misfit fabrications peg extenders
How bout a pic of the peg extenders RappyFreak?
Sort of crappy phone pics, they are very well made, like them a lot
that's cool right there.
did you make that.? Looks well done!
I think they are from Misfit Fabricators over on RF. They look good rappyfreak!
Yep, from Misfit Fabrications, really well made

HG's are the devil.
Well it's back up and all is ok ya :) The hard part is the ex. pipe (Sparks BCX6) sucks to get off/apart..
I thought those were supposed to be the easiest pipes to install and remove?
My HMF was way EZ.. I think the ceramic coating make it harder..
Almost finished installing my Fox Podium rear shock, don't really like where the fitting makes the hose go, it goes towards the exhaust... will have to take her ass appart to see where else I can route the hose.
You're a balla now freaky :pimp:
I stuck my motowoz reservoir in the tool area under the seat. hose is inside of the tail light cover
Hmmmmmm really liking that idea Pat, will see if I make it work, I really like the front mounting but it really goes close to the exhaust pipe...

For some ideas...but you have to gut the hell out of the box though. I had like 1/2-3/4 lb of plastic taken out haha
Pat, can you take a pic closer to where the hose exits the shock and how you routed it? Thanks!
When it stops raining I'll pull it out and take some pics...the hose is just laying inside the tunnel, it has some tension on it being in the box..
Here you go freaky: http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp261/Spartan700r/Orlando-20110811-00005.jpg
Thanks Pat, you mounted it with the fitting on the top instead of how the damn instruction say. This is how mine is sitting now:
I have the muffler off but you can see the fitting directs the hose directly to the header... Do you reckon I can tighten the fitting about a quarter turn to direct the hose towards the front of the quad or too risky?
I don't know if I would risk turning that fitting...might be better off finding a shop that could refill the shock if you release any of the nitrogen. I've heard bad things happen if you mess with that stuff...
The line runs next to the exhaust?
seems like there should be some sort of elbow on that fitting.
Was this an e-bay purchase or did you buy it new from a vendor.
Ebay purchase, think I'm gonna have to munt it like pat did with the fitting on the other side of the shock. Just have to check there is no binding. Craaaaaaappppppppppp
Well got things worked out, contacted Fox and what they said was:
You can loosen the jam nut enough to allow the fitting to rotate then tighten it back up when you have it in position but be careful because if you loosen it too much you run the risk of causing an oil leak. If that happens you will then need to have your shock sent off for service.
Did that carefully and turned the hose towards the front with no nitrogen or oil leak!
 noice!
Good job RappyFreak!
Something about that line being so close to the exhaust, heating the fluid inside, made me cringe.
I bought some paddles for it ....
I actually rode it. :thud:
I kicked it !
Last week...
removed the front brakes, removed start button/kill switch/headlight switch cluster and wiring, removed the stock pegs with Misfit Fab extensions and installed BBIII lightweight pegs, removed battery, and installed 26" drag axle in place of the 34" play axle.
Today...
Mounted the manifold (-1 exhaust stud :(), turbo is on, new turbo support bracket on, new down pipe is on, new BOV, new light-weight battery, and refilled the coolant.
Tomorrow...
do the "clutch mod", change the oil, wire up new start button, put all the plastics back on and clean it up for the dunes this weekend.
Next week...
Install new fireball drag stem/bar combo and put this pig back on the scale to see what she weighs now (388.5 lbs wet before recent mods).

going to have to write a thread about what I have done to my 660..............
been a couple of things
Yesterday just finished up tearing the head, jug, and clutch cover off to clean them. Oh ya and a few new things went in with it.
Started working on my buddy's quad...found out he bent his middle crossbar on the frame (where the motor mount is) and his skid plate is torn up. upgrade time. Gonna be swapping a few parts for him and doing a service.

Pat doing a service? That's like me asking Krandall to time my engine. That's like asking Preddy to pick a brand of shock other than Elka. That's like telling 4Gunz4x4 his quad is "fast enough". That's like telling Cammie and Segkast "Canada Rocks, we all want to live there!" Who is this guy and does he have insurance?

Those of us that actually have a quad in front of us can learn  So unless you can demonstrate to me you actually even know what a 4 wheeler looks like, you got no room to talk :door:

how do you ride with your handlebars all stickin up like that at the grips? my wrists hurt just lookin at it
looks sweet with the red rings, and red levers...
I stand up a lot. I might rotate it back to +1 on the bars and see how that works...but it's comfortable to me for some reason
And thanks...thinking about swapping the grips to red troy lee ODI design.
Nice wheels Pat
