Was talking to a buddy tonite about working out and stuff. It got me to thinking of who on here goes to the gym. So if your hitting the gym share your stories, workout routines, diets, goals, pros, cons, and just whatever related you can think of.
Anyhow I'm a fatkid and I was getting really sick of being so damn fat. So a few months ago I started eating healthier and changing my habits. I also started hit'n up the gym mid November of last year. My original goal was to go from 250lbs to 210lbs. I hit the goal about 3 weeks ago or so. Right now I'm a whop'n 208lb, so I've got new goals now. I've been hitting the gym 3 times a week up until last week when I added 2 more days to the routine. My new goal is to have a 6 pack by Nov 16th of this year, that would be the anniversary date of the day I joined the gym. I don't really have any weight goals anymore because of the muscle weight that I have been putting on. Oh and I was a size 40 in jeans and right now I'm rocking size 36. I did try on some 34's yesterday, not quite there yet.
Oh yeah, by the way don't make me delete your post... you know what I mean.
Been back in the gym also. Started when someone posted up the beer gut pick. My goal is to hit 200-210lbs. And mainly just try and stay fit for myself and the kids, Do not want to get so fat that cannot run them down when they misbehave! Plus the lighter you are the faster you go!!!!! :tonto:
i do 12oz curls as often as possible
I was on a VERY strict diet/gym schedule for about 3 years. I had the help from alot of people (alot of my buddies are into body building) and a personal trainer. I kinda hit a plato. No matter how hard I pushed, no mater how I changed up my workout I could'nt gain anything. Then in the midst of this I broke my arm (arm wrestling) and was out for months and lost everything! Decided I'd rather have a life and just watch what I eat, than live at the gym everyother day!
Uh, I seem to remember of posting said pic. Have you been working out at work?

Tonto......talking about a pic posted that made him start working out. I posted some pics of us riding at a OCCRA track and commenting on his beer belly. Guess it hurt his feelings... Muhahaha. Gotta love the motivation though.
Congrats Mike. I know you've been working hard at getting in shape.
Yeah at work. About to start at a gym near the house also. Knew I had the beer gut. Just tired of havin it!!!
Mike I am so proud of you! Losing weight and keeping a routine like that can be very hard but it is doable. Keep up the good work!
As for my story... In 2007 I started dieting with failed attempts and in the beginning of 2008 I found a method that worked for me. I started using fiber to help cleanse my digestive system but didn't like it much and so I started serving myself what I would normally eat at meal time and scoop 1 spoonful off of my plate the first week and increased to 2 spoonfuls the next week adding 1 more spoonful every week. This was a huge success for me!
I had a hard time exercising because of my weight and a muscle condition that causes me pain, so this was very helpful until I could get to a weight where exercising was possible. When I started "exercising" it was with the help of my kids, I would bench press them and do leg lifts with them sitting on my legs and have them hold my feet while I did sit-ups. This was a great bonding experience with them, and I got in better shape.
When I started my diet I was 198lbs. and a size 18-20. Today I am 129lbs. and a size 8. I have dropped 69lbs.! I am so happy with my weight now and hope to start toning up soon.

hey f**k you!
As for me, I used to be a little fat kid. Pretty much just started eating better, and less. I used to eat till I was stuffed, then I just cut back till I wasnt huingry anymore and that made a big difference in my weight. That combined with my growing has done alot for me. Let's look at my Wrestling weight classes...
6th grade, 126 pounds, I was short and fat
7th grade, 112 pounds, a little taller and lost all the fat
8th grade, 126 pounds, jumped alot in height, gained some muscle
freshman-grew about 7 inches, picked up alot of muscle and mass, i started out the season in November at 155 pounds, and I now weigh 140.5 as of Today. I prety much watch how much i eat, and try to do something other then sitting, just moving doing something. Anyway thats my life story
Thanks guys! My main reason for doing it was because I kept falling after I gained all that weight, my little feet didn't provide much balance. I ended up spraining both my ankles one day because I fell and all my weight landed on my ankles.
Being overweight like that was also really hard with my Fibromyalgia causing me severe pain, now that I have lost that weight my pain is much more tolerable.
Just got back from the gym.... it's a pain in the ass when your ribs are jacked up. :help:
NICE JOB NIKKI! your lookin good!
I am 24, and have weighed pretty much 170lbs all through high school and until i was 22-23...i joined a gym, just short of a year ago...
i am now 190lbs... and my goal is to hit 200lbs...
i take a pre-workout drink (superpump250) a during workout drink (sizeon) and my afterworkout protein (gaspari intrapro).
i push myself to the limit every workout so i am good and sore...i workout mon, wed, fri, sat.
Mon: chest, tris, bis, abs
Wed: back, tris, bis, abs
fri: legs, calves
sat: shoulders, tris, bis, abs
i am really into body building now...
my dad has been a body builder for a very long time, so he ahs tought me all the proper techniques...so i wont grow up like him and ahve so many injuries lol
^ That's cool, I'd like to get into some bodybuilding myself.
My routine is about the same every time I go.
Mon, wed, fri.... about 20-30min on the bike, tri's, bi's, quads, lats, pecs, traps, shoulders, forearms, abs, calves for about 1.5-2hrs
tue, thurs and some sundays...... 45min on bike and abs
i am into putting on some size, so that is why i focus on 1 body section each day, so i can focus on those muscles and tear them down for a good pump, fatigue, and soreness lol..i am in the gym 1.5-2hrs each day...
i usually work each muscle group fairly hard to where it takes about 3-4 days to recover, i was at the point where id push my leg workouts i would be so sore i could hardly walk and itd take about a full week to recover...thanks to tom platz workouts LOL
Thanks ;)
Knocked out an hour on the bike and worked out the tris and bis hard tonite.

Hey Rep, what would be a typical workout for you on Wed be? Just wondering how hard you work a particular muscle. sets-rep-weight?? I don't get much of a soreness the next day, my partner does though. He will talk about hurting for a few days. I can work my arms till I can't pick them up, but the next day they just don't hurt. However I gain about 8th" a week on them, so the gains are there.

Awesome stories. I've started going to the CrossFit Gym here in town along with changing my diet. Biggest things I've done that have helped alot are quit drinking alcohol and soda (I'll still have one every once in a while but I went from Oct to Feb 13 only having two beers).
I've also quite going back for seconds and cut my original portion sizes down too and when I go to dinner I make wiser choices and immediatly ask for a "to-go" box and split my meal in half.

The wife and I have been going to the gym off and on for just over a year. We haven't really been serious about it until about 4 months ago. We started going 3 times a week. We took a picture just after we started (about 3 months ago) and took a picture last night to compare/see the difference.
The wife has lost almost a full inch on her waste/belly. I think she's down officially 6lbs (but gained a few in muscle as well)
I never measured but based on my pants I've lost maybe 1/2 inch on the waste and I'm up 10 lbs from when I started.
Lydia's changes weren't to much based on the pictures but you can tell that she's lost quite a bit off her stomach.
My changes were pretty noticable. The most noted areas I saw actual changes was my pecs. My arms in genearal (bi,tri, and forearms) and the biggest change was in my shoulders. at a rest with the first pic. my arms sort of slouched away from my neck sort of liken upside down V. if my neck were the point and my shoulders were the / \ part. Wasn't much to them. Now they are a lot more defined.
Lydia saw the pics before me, I was making dinner and she said WOW... You looked like a nerd before.
I've still got a ways to go. But. Getting there. and Feeling a whole lot better in the process as well. :)
We've never really watched what we've been eating. The gym was more to, get a bit more fit, and just be able to work off what we were eating to stay more even.
Now we're both starting to watch what we eat/buy. We've cut back on the ammount of junk food that enters the house. We always have fresh carrots/Cauliflower/Broccoli in the apt. As well as fruit. I've cut back on my soda intake from 3ish cans a day to 1 (at lunch). Primarily drink water. (obviously there's exceptions.. like I've had friends over to play xbox and we'll drink pop. But I'm trying to be more consious about the decisions I'm making now.
That's my story thus far. :)
Nice job Randy, keep it up I want to feel your manly muscles when I see you, cuz right now its hard to believe
jk.... or am I? ;)
which part is harder to believe? The manly, or the muscles?

Randy, the whole getting fit is multiple battles all in itself. Dieting and watching what you eat is a huge battle. Once you kinda get into a routine of eating healthy or healthier it becomes simple. I literally had to make a huge bet with a friend one day to help me commit to the dieting. The basic bet was whoever lost more weight in 6 weeks and it was a $500 bet. I used the bet to goat myself into watching what I ate and eating better, it wasn't about me it was also about my friend too. Once I started getting into the habit of eating well, I decided I needed to workout, but that was a battle too. James sent me a message one day and asked if I needed a workout partner, I didn't even hesitate. James and I have been hitting the gym since November 16th. We hit it hard, started out going 3 times a week...m/w/f. I think I might have missed one day and James has only missed 2 that I can think of. Last month I started going m/t/w/th/f and James has hit me up the last 3 Sundays as well. I can't imagine life without going to the gym at this point.
Overall I eat better, feel healthier, look healthier, I feel like there is a new physical me. I have long term goals such as <10% Bodyfat, size 32 jeans (I'm a 34 btw, was a 40), and a "six pack".
I don't plan on dieting thats for sure.
I think diets are temporary solutions. (read a statistic about them... 90% of all people who diet fail)
I'd rather change to a healtier lifestyle is all. :)
Why not just eat everything you want and :puke: it up after? Win win
bulemia is the new anorexia. HAWT!
I wish I could go to the gym twice a day everyday....
I have a friend who is jobless (wife supporting him) he's been going on and on about his success in weight loss..
he goes AT LEAST 2 times a day....
I give him the finger every time I see him, he rubs it in. It's like well shit. if I sat at home and had nothing else to do I could do it as well.. :bird:
I was riding a couple of weeks ago, at just a little place called LITTLE SAHARA, and I noticed I could throw my bike around a hell of a-lot easier then normal while riding. The gym is really starting to show signs of improvement for this fatkid. I was pushing it harder then I usually do and with less effort. I think to night I'm going to try and bench press 60lbs, keep your fingers crossed for me.
60lbs huh? you'z a strong mofo.
He's a fookin animal...
I was doing great the last two weeks at the gym, the cold shut me down for a few days but I hope to be back hard on Saturday. My goal is to drop 40lb by the end of summer.
For me once I get my butt in the gym eating healthy just comes naturally. I cut out a lot of things so far and I've noticed a huge difference already.
Lou's misses you.
That it does, but it was a small price to pay. And its not like I wont be going anymore. But when i know I may be going I REALLY tighten the belt a few days before and step up my work out before and after. Just to lessen the damage.
2 more hours

we have an excersize bike where we work out too, that's where we send the pussies that can't lift the real weight so we don't have to keep swapping the weight around between every set. we call it the estrogen booster
Well I guess I'll add my 2 cents to this sence I've lost 170+ sence dec 09. After reading how how everyone works out I think rep has the best way, I work out things like chest, shoulders, traps, arms only once a week and hit it hard. The only muscle I work out more than once a week is like my abs (this only applys to lifting not cardio). When I work out something like chest I do 3 sets of 10 on what ever weight I can then up the weight by 15lbs and do as meny as I can till I can lift it the full 10 reps then that becomes my new workout weight. Also with chest I first to the flat bench then go to the incline. From what I hear decline bench is a waste of time.
decline bench is a waste of time!? not true at all. hitting every diffrent angle possible will fill out your chest better. I START with incline and work my way down to decline. also i use dumbells not barbells, better stabilization work and better for your joints. huge fan of pyramids as well. adding resistence bands to pretty much any free weight exersize is nice too, keeps the muscle constantly working. slowers better.....

that's almost a whole peels! and I bet your raptor thanks you.
Not trying to argue that is just what most every person I know said who knew a thing or two about lifting. They said the only reason to do I incline is if u r bored from the others.
I haven"t been to the gym in weeks.... I'm gonna hit that shit hard starting this week, Ill give some stats as soon as I get them... Shooting for a six pack, gonna be hard with this fatkid.
KRANDALL!!!
Alrighty then, I hit the gym earlier. MMMMkay, Im a fatkid again. Weighed in at a whopping 223lbs, that's 15lbs heavy ALL fat and no telling how much more fat gain and muscle lose that equals too. I did however do 15 miles on the bike without any problems. At least I still have my stamina. :(

Atleast I dont need a "bro" to go riding
Seinfeld reference.. 1 point.
Current routine I am just now trying out. I want to start focusing on back more.
Monday: Back
Tuesday: Legs
Wednesday: Chest
Thursday: Back
Firday: Legs
Saturday: Shoulders/Arms
basically swapped chest and back days and back twice a week instead of chest twice a week.
Decided I needed to lose some weight & gain some fitness for riding & racing.
Not quite going to plan.
So far:
- Lost 50mm (2") from my waist. Good :)
- Gained 3kg (6.6lb). Not so good :(
Was trying to get down to 100kg (220lb) but back up to 110kg (242lb)
guess muscle weighs more than fat, & I don't really have that much fat to lose.
 funny, I just read an article talking about "muscle weighing more than fat" a lb of fat is still the same as a lb of muscle
Not sure how long you been workin out.. But an extreme muscle gain would be about 1/2lb of muscle in a month. That's if you're trying to bulk.
My routine:
Sunday - Squats
Monday - Recovery
Tuesday - Recovery
Wednesday -Recovery, but talk about going to the gym
Thursday - Chest
Friday - Sleep for 12 hours
Saturday - Rest day after a hard week at the gym
Cardio: Considered and planned on 7 days a week. Hasn't been done since 2009
Lost 15 lbs and I was already skinny. Can't wait to get to some place that has actual FOOD. Not a half dollar sized piece of pork and bread
 Chris.
I didn't get the full time at the gym last night, but last night was Shoulder/Back.
3/10 - Power Cleans
3/15 - Shoulder Shrugs
3/16 - Rear delt flys
3/10-8-8 - Dumbell Shoulder Press
3/10-8-6 - Wide Grip weighted pullups normally these are in the middle of my workout. Couldn't go a full 10-10-10
Going to finish up tonight w/ Incline Bench, and then rock some tris/chest
Did squats last night 1 set of 20 reps with 185 then went to hack squats did 10 reps with a plate, 10 reps with 2 plates, 10 reps with 3 plates and 7 reps with 4 plates. 3 sets of calves and went home.
Gunna hit some incline dumbells and camber bar flat bench tonight

Just wanted to post a lil update in here...
So... I've been legitimately working out now for 2 years almost. As of last night I hit what my "dream" goal was......... I wanted to lose 50lbs. I started @ 218lbs. Was the most I had ever weighed and realized something needed to change. I know I'm sure I coudl have done it "quicker" but.. I didn't want to stop enjoying things I like eatin/drinking. Anywho....
The pic below is somewhat of my progress. The left is when I started and was serious about changing.. Taken Sept of 2010.
Middle was taken december of 2011
right was taken a week and a half ago.
I've had people (family in particular) ask what diet I used and all that BS.. Really... its not that complicated. I DID change how I ate. I don't eat out as often as I used to. I don't remember the last time legitly I was at McDonalds or Arbys or burger king... Dinners, I try to have salad w/ my meals, I still eat well. Just not as much "processed" bought from the grocery store type foods like chicken nuggest and what not. The 2nd biggest(really the first thing I did....)thing I did was.. I used to drink a LOT of soda. like... I could down a case of diet mtn dew in a week no prob. The only way I'd be able to do that is to quit caffeine all together. I weaned myself off caffeine over a period of 3 months. Doing this, I shed 15lbs in a matter of like 2 months. I layed off all caffeine for a period of almost 6 months. maybe a cup of coffee in there. Its nice not being controlled by it where I NEED to have coffee.. and when I drink a lot of it,, I can FEEL it now again  Other than those 2 things.. I can say... there isn't an "easy" way to do it. It's taken time and work. :) I'm happy, I feel tons better, and over all have more energy.
dats' all, just thought I'd share :)
These pictures suck, give me some Burt Reynold's poses!
Grats on your success Randy! Hard work pays off

Well As I stated in my reply. I have toned Muscles and a six pack because I have a great sex life. Maybe you should start putting some of that muscle to use and pick your wife up and FERK her standing up.
Funyun as for your mother I would say that let her ride you and she should start seeing results in 2-3 weeks if she does it once a day.
I've been bangin my wife for years and can get tone muscles, maybe i can try bangin yours?
Obviously you are not doing it right.

I wasn't bragging I was being sarcastic. As for sitting on the couch and eating cheetos I prefer classic lay's. Ok turning the sarcasm off now...
I have never had an issue with gaining weight so I have been able to keep my work outs mild. 5.4 mile round trip run to the beach and back, a hundred push ups, a couple different ab work outs, couple minutes worth of wall squats, an arm work out or two.
I appologize to anyone I offended by me being sarcastic, mainly funyun since he seems to be the one that has been offended.
