i talked to kenny and we got it all sorted out.  new head gasket on the way
boo to cometic!

660limited

so the fun never ends with this raptor
its been about 15-20 hours of riding since we have gotten the head gasket problem sorted out.  on sunday while riding it she just stopped solid.  great....
we get the head off last night an all we see is pure carnage. mind you not as bad as the first go. but still its ugly. i didnt have my camera to get pics but i will soon.
when i removed the exhaust a piece of a valve guide was broke off inside.  right away i knew this was going to be bad. we got the tb off and there was a knick in the bore of that. again bad news... when we look inside of the head. 1 missing valve.  when the head does come off. the piston had some nasty marks from the broken valve.  i cant describe how bad this is looking with out pictures. but we need a new head, valves, and piston. the cylinder can be bored out and sleeved i hope.
i think it happened because of the first melt down.  when one of the exhaust valves had bent the first time it slightly cracked the guide. and since then the crack has been gettin bigger an bigger. until kapow... i didnt replace the valves myself, i had a well known mechanic from our area do the port work. as well as replace the valves ,springs and cam.  and i guess it was maybe a rush job and he had missed the slight crack in the guideand over time it let go.  looking closely at the guide you can notice it being slightly darker near the bottom and more clean looking near the top of the break.  so over time it had just had enough an broke.

pictures will follow soon!

:jaw: shitty man.  how did it run prior to that?  Nothing worse than riding along and it just dies.

660limited

it ran amazing. ive built some pretty fast 450's but this raptor was in a totally different ball park power wise.

i know how everyone LOVES carnage. so here it is.

i removed that valve stem and pieces of a seat from the air box

inside the tb

eeek

im curious about the crack around the oil ring area

lovely

this doesn't look right at all!!

you can see the knick where the valve hit on its way back thru

one valve guide

no valve guide and which i believe is the culprit of this whole ordeal

and the final blow

i did take some pics of the port work before would something in the pics lead anyone to believe that the porter had something to do with this? or should have at least noticed a crack in the guide?

Peelz

Oh my Goodness! Nice carnage for sure.  :(
