clutch is on the motor's shaft. it's all belt driven.. give it gas and go

Krandall

I knew that much.

Snowmobiles are set up w/ primary and secondary clutches. primary (off the motor) secondary drives the cogs. How do you have that part hooked up? Like to the actual rear end? We're working on a go-cart build and it was tossed around that we use a snowmobile motor, but we were unsure how to make the belt drive work..

i've got a 2 stroke rear end still in the cart. the motor clutch is above the rear end pulley. stuck the belt on there and good to go.  i will lose reverse until i get a 4 stroke rear end... or the sled reverse kit.. but i dont care about not having reverse.

i had to mount the motor behind the differential so it'd go the right direction.

it'll be awhile before i get a 4 stroke rear end.. they're like $500-600

Krandall

When you have a few spare mins, would you mind snappin a pic of the rear end? I'm interested to see what it looks like.. We have an old golf cart but it was shaft driven. That's why we're unsure where to go... ??? ???

sure i'll snap a pic for u. might can see it in the video on youtube. the rear has a shaft then just a belt pulley at the end, spin it one way it'll go forward, spin the opposite it'll go in reverse.

i'm trying to find out how to do an electric start on here now... not sure how to go about it just yet... i dont mind a pull start but my wife wants to turn a key lol

EVL LS1

krandall u got ur stock lower box off ur raptor by chance? i need a lower box to put my extra pro design filter on this thing

Krandall

sry, using my box  :P

I checked the vid, but couldn't really see the rear end.

As far as electric start. You might want to check to see if you can find parts of a Ski Doo Touring. Those for the older ski doo sleds are about the only ones that came w/ the electric start option. or at least most readily available.

question... the stock starter/generator for the golf cart is what recharges the battery during riding, correct?

i want to see if i can leave the starter mounted out of my way so i dont have to trickle charge the battery after each ride...

or would that not work? lol... just thinking....

Krandall

If you're running a full snowmobile setup. The coil recharges the battery so. youd be set :batman:
