Ok guys, seeing a ton of deals here. Now i am at a crossroad as to what to get. You've got the YFZ and the 700. Both are 07 models and are Basically being given away for $3800.00. Can someone break down the major differences, other than Kyles coming with the YFZ shocks...LOL. Pro's and con's on both.....anyone, Beuller???????? ??? ???
Well, I would break them down by your desired riding style.
If you're in for MX or competition GNCC then I vote YFZ.
If your hardcore trails, or dunes, I say Raptor.
If the rappy is an SE model, it's shocks are equal to the YFZs, if not it's only ~$200 upgrade to purchase them online.
Aaron
Problem is I like both trails and flying, and the closest sand around here is the ocean....ALL RED CLAY.
also If your near 6ft, an 450 might get cramped for ya. It's all personal preference though.
And a FYI a rappy flys nice too

Good point Colorado....I too had a tough decision at the dealership....I rode both out in the parking lot and after I got on the Raptor I was sold based on the ride alone. Rider comfort for me  Yes, I'm 6'0 and 205lbs.
yea man mine came with yfz shocks!!!
You say both trails and flying, what type of trails? fast, slow, tight, wide, etc. I ride mine in my yard which is open and fast. I freakin love it. If comfort is the number 1 priority then 700 is the way to go. also I agree with everyone else, if your tall you might feel cramped, but thats nothing a new stem or bars cant fix. It's all jus tpresonal preference. I'm 5"0 and ride with a +1 stem and higher bend bars, thats just how i roll.
some more specifics on riding and what your looking for and im sure we can fine tune that some more for you
the 700 is defanitley comfortable to ride, i have never rode a 450 tho... and the 700 is great on trails, like everyone else said, the 450 is more for racing mx and stuff like that. id say see if you can ride both and see which one you like that way
Just go try them both, you'll see which one you prefer.
I chose my 700 because I mainly do trail. Bigger engine that have a great amount of torque and require LESS maintenance, have reverse and fuel injection... When you get stuck you see those 400ex owner get of and pull their bumper to get out, and I just turn the switch and I reverse. They always swear at you . That's what I wanted.
Not that the 450 isn't good, it's just not for me. They are meant to be jump IMO and it's not my 1st priority. But I still can do good in this department... Just not as much. :)
By the way, go to a 450 forum too, it's sure you'll have more positive feedback for the raptor on a Raptor site.
I'm 5'9 and 180lbs so I feel great on the raptor. It don't seem heavy to me.
anyone who says a 450 is cramped is full of shit. 5'11" and mine feels perfect nobody i know has ever said it was cramped at all.

Not everyone is built the same, I'm 6'2" 190lbs and the 450 isn't nearly as comfortable as the 700. Some peoples legs are longer at the same height as others.

i think alot of it is presonal preferance and what people are used to... im 5'8 135 and a 700 doesnt feel the slightest bit big and ive never had the opportunity to ride a 450
If you want long term reliability-go Raptor. They are built for the long-haul and busting out trails. A bit more tippy.
If you do not mind rebuilding motors, go YFZ. They don't have as long of a life expectancy. And they are too small IMO, I am 6'1" 200 lbs. Hurts my back riding them. But...they are built for the track and do a great job at it. My .02$
Rappy= speed and power
yfz=agility
OK, if the yfz is considered "cramped", how does its size compare to the Rapt 350......Im 6' 190....and i think my 350 is great.....
and trails are trails. Ride at D-town some and so on.....
The only way you're gonna know what's right for you DD, is seat time on both.
Aaron
well i can tell you from experience that if youre comfortable on the 350 than you will be comfrotable on the yfz

im comfortable on a 350. and a 700 feels exactly the same to me. then how would i be comfortable on a 450 if some people say theyre too small...
my guess would be posture and stance, but just to stir up more crap, lets throw a 660 in the mix...why not? Theres one here for sale as well with a decent price.....And if the 700 is Fuel Injected, doesnt that mean you will ahave to take it to the shop every time you add something, such as a simple pipe?

600 is more tippy than the 700 but it can be fixed...
youll need a pc3 or dobeck for the 700 to correct the a/f ratio if you add a pipe or something, its pretty much like jetting a carbed quad. except with a pc3 its all electronic  but im sure some of the others can get into more detail
My opinion is if you're not going to build an MX racer get the 700. I've owned a 450R and two of my buddies have YFZ 450's and there is a reason why I'm on a 700. Fit and Feel. 450's are great bikes don't get me wrong but I love the way the Raptor feels under me. Like everyone said.. you gotta go try it out for yourself. You'll here Raptor here and YFZ on a YFZ forum. Now get out there and test drive them!

+1. Go the dealership and sit on both. Go to a yfz site and ask the same question with everything you have said here and maybe they can give you better info since most know alot more than me
i agree on the cramped thing......i'm a short fellow thinking bout sending the rappy away in favor of a 450.....the raptor's just too big for me to throw around the way i want to

350 is a little bit bigger than the 450.. I have been on trails and dragged both bikes (450 and 700) I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs.. In my opinion there was no ?'s asked.. Rappy is the winner.. The only reason I would choose a 450 if I was doing mx or a light weight hill shooter but thats it!
I am 6'2" 190 lbs and most all the 450s feel WAY to small for me! I did spend some time on a KFX450 this weekend and thought it was a nice bike, for a 450. They are a bit more roomier than the YFZ.

Let's not forget that the YFZ has more actually racing victories than most of all the other sport quads combined. I don't believe anyone is bashing the YFZ, just expressing our opinions on why we choose a Raptor instead.

One more thing that some people don't look at is how different they deliver the power. I know some people that on paper the raptor was the ideal bike for them until they rode it and the other way around. If you are an agressive rider you'lllove the 450's powerband, it is more explosive than the raptor and it makes the bike feel fast. The raptor is a torque beast and there's no need to rev it to the moon to go fast but it just doesn't feel fast unless you are on fast trails or racing the competition. I have a yfz and a kfx450 and I think the yfz is more comfortable, I do know for sure the seat is. The gearing on the yfz is perfect unlike the kfx's. But EFI and reverse is a winner combo though.

well put! YFZ does feel faster because you are working it hard to get that speed. The raptor just takes it on the chin. Never has to work hard to make the power. Short shifting etc. I still say the Raptor will win in a reliability contest as well. The 450's will need rebuilt alot sooner.
Dang it, should have just chosen one and gone with it. The Raptor is comfy, but the YFZ just feels badass for some reason....decisions decisions :( :'( :'(

Thanks for the offer, but I already made one hell of a long trip to get a truck. That is all for sometime as funds have gotten low! :(

Dang it, should have just chosen one and gone with it. The Raptor is comfy, but the YFZ just feels badass for some reason....decisions decisions :( :'( :'(
I rode my buddies a couple times while he was in Ranger school and it was a great ride. He always hyped it up like it was the second coming of Christ. He has a GYTR pipe bore kit and cam in it. It handled awesome and the power was great. I've rode a few 450Rs and the YFZ is a better handling quad period. I really enjoyed those two days. Its a fun high revving motor that is easy to keep in the power. I'd probably get one if it had reverse.

and you will never have to rebuild the motor, if you treat it right. YFZ wears out faster.
The wearing out is not a bad thing either if you want to go faster every two years

well done!
I am actually not really bashing the 450(well maybe a little). It is just not for me. I need a machine that will stay running without a topend rebuild after 200 hrs. But, if were to ride mx, I would buy one regardless. Rappy is too tall and center of gravity too high for that. But...mine is beat up and and the engine still singing. All my riding is really rough trails and gravel roads that I need the low end power, comfort and reliability. Handling can be fixed, when I feel like it, as well.
I can contest to that one too. Old bert has ridden his more than most people drive there cars. He also has let some maintenance slip a little and that thing still runs great. Its a great motor. Yamaha built a winner with the 700 Raptors.

+1 Big bore, low compression = reliability + stump pulling low end...and wheelies!!!!!
I like how ATV action compared to a diesel

Ahhh, mechanically its doing fine. Yea I've noticed some wear here & there but that's what sponsors & ebay are for. Some of the parts I need to replace may get replaced with aftermarket parts ???

I've replaced rear brake pads, chain & tires. I have a new OMI steering stem mount & I noticed on my lower rear a-arms there is a slight wiggle. Saving $$ for +2 A-arms, shocks & buying RPM axle from Kenneth this month
