Im more than happy with my build and its probably not even 70hp,but this winter i have to tear it down to fix a leaking base gasket. At that point racers edge will have my head and cylinder for a complete work over. I have gotta try this head that everyone else already has and kickin ass and takin names later

Racers edge isn't the only ones that have made 70 on stock bore/stroke. It can be done on pump gas with the right parts.

My bike for example. Stoke bore/6 mil stroke = 75hp and 58tq on 87 octane. Thank you and have a nice day. FREE rides at Little Sahara.

No offense at all, I'm sure your bike runs great and I'm glad your happy with it, but we made those numbers on a stockbore 2 years ago  In FSA our stockbore/stroke bike took a 888cc (I'm sure that's close, but may not be exact maybe 869) out in the big bore championship 8)

There is allot to say for these stockbores, these bikes and have meant there potential, the bigger cc motors haven't met there potential yet ::)

I'm not offended at all. I'm honored that a race engine builder targets little O' me on how his bike put down numbers like mine 2 years ago. I'm just a fat kid that plays in the dirt, not a racer at all by no means. Hell I cant even roll over a dune with out breaking my arm, it's a fact. Now if I were a racer and race engine builder then I'm sure I would be church'n up how the "my bike is better then your bike" thing, but I'm not. I'm just another potential customer that rides with the work buddies on the weekend, that doesn't mind sharing my experienced opinion between big bore and stroker.

Wait are we talking about bikes in the 727 range or are we talking about full blown race bikes? Because if we are talking about Big Bore 800+'s that can put out more then my measly little 735 then well shit. Also in the above statement....

Quotebut we made those numbers on a stockbore 2 years ago

Was that on a 727 big bore on pump? If so, then what the hell? Why didn't you let us in on it back then.... CRIPES. :'(

Oh and no offense to you, but us the average atv enthusiast look to you guys.. Racers Edge, Barker, TRF, KDS, and so on to keep us rolling. No need to shit on our parade and bikes when we build them from what you tell us is better. By the way I wanted a 70+hp bike on pump Solely due to YOU Racers Edge

I wasn't trying to target you my friend  I was just simply stating that you can refrain from going into the bottom end to get those numbers, you just happened to be the one that put the numbers out on your bike (stroked), so I took it as an example. Like I said before I'm sure you have a strong build and glad you like it, I understand we are all not racers and that is fine. I was just on the topic of boring or stroking. You could have got the exact same numbers on a pump gas stock bore build, without paying the labor ($500-700) that you could have used on oher parts on yor bike.. I am just trying to let  community know what they can do without a stoker, thats all. This SB was just a thrown together bike. Head piston cam and there you go.

Please don't take offense bro, that's the last thing I wanted to do. This is a good thread to learn on.

Not trying to "rain" on your parade either, you got a bike for what you want to do, and tha's all that matters. Different things make different people happy.

I agree, different things for different people.  That's why I don't give JHILT any shit for watching so much gay porn.

No, you just don't want to share your collection

So Troy you did the upgrade anyway!! Man I really wished I could have taken that head off your hands, hope you make it to the rally in Oklahoma. Would love to see how it runs.

Yeah thanks Roy, I was doing perfectly fine and then you had to get me all worked up.  I'll keep you posted how it runs and hopefully I make LS and you can see how it runs for yourself.  Probably won't be as fun as your bottle is, but maybe I'll have one of those by then too.

I'll share, it's just a big collection so it takes time

tonto13

Told you I was not a good influence !! I just have to wait a little bit before I can do the head on mine, also thinking about a bigbore. Just have to find another trailer first. Mine was stolen wensday !!!

use OEM gaskets.... the oem base gasket has a silicone bead covering the case seams to eliminate oil leaks

Troy, that new head is a monster and  I hope you go the route we talked about on the TB..... got to keep some velocity..... When fuel numbers increase with no increase in power its a waste.

Yeah it was insured, but it is a PITA!!!! Has become a big problem aroung here to. Where the hell are they taking all these trailers? Cops said they have at least three a week here. So how much more do I need to instagate to get you on the bottle!! LOL

Yeah Daniel I'll get it figured out today hopefully.  Roy I don't think it's going to take much to get mine on the bottle, I've been playing with the idea forever.  I wish I had the coin right now to slap a turbo on it.  I'm thinking about swapping some toys and getting a bone stock Raptor and going the turbo route when money permits.  It's tough to justify spending cash right now with way the work situation is.

Colorado700R

I got a bone stock motor sitting here

QuoteWhen fuel numbers increase with no increase in power its a waste.

If fuel numbers increase with no increase in power then IMHO something is amiss. When one thing is changed, it changes the parameters of the whole of the combination......... I have seen first hand where after changes that made for more power and a better curve, that fuel had to be removed and the combination became more efficient as well as making more HP & TQ.

One thing I see being overlooked in this whole debate is TQ.........I'll take TQ over a feel good peak HP number any day. The stock bore and stoke engines lack the TQ of the good stroker combos. You put a 77 HP 50-55 ft lb of tq stock bore & stroke combo up against a 77 HP 62 ft lb of torque 105mm +6mm or +8mm stroke combo and see which is the most fun to ride and which performs better in tight trails, up steep hills and is the best overall performing machine if it's set up well.  The TQ monster will outshine the SB/SS nine times out of ten in my experience. There are always exceptions to the rules and I think the RE stock bore is the biggest exception. For the Joe average duner like myself who likes to tree shoot, ride tight trails and dune hard.....then go to the hill and be competitive, a  bored and stroked bike fits the bill perfectly, and with the right cam profile, degreed in properly you can make those HP & TQ numbers with a pump gas friendly final compression ratio IMHO .
