so with the mods I have and 1,500 bucks can I hit the 70 to 75 hp mark? by the way I am having the labor done by a pro. I don't know the first thing about tearing down a motor and building it up.

Jay and Racer's edge have been able to achieve those numbers with stock bore and stroke, so I would say it is possible for at near that $$$

Racers edge isn't the only ones that have made 70 on stock bore/stroke. It can be done on pump gas with the right parts.

I can say my +5 stroker revs a hell of alot quicker than before. With stock gearing it will ping the rev limiter in 5th gear. also has a ton more torque than before.

I'm a fan of stroker builds because of how it broadens the power curve. Both mods make power in a different place. The big bore will pick up 2-3 hp from the midrange up. I've seen a stroker do 6-8 hp and 8 ft-lbs, but it is earlier in the powerband to the point that it doesn't affect peak power that much. The +5 crank is running around all over the place with big bore 14:1 pistons, and of course the Barker cranks are pretty much the standard by which others are judged. The stroker is more bang for the buck no matter how you slice it...... If you can install it yourself, it's a REAL bargain when you already have a good piston for your stock bore.

The cool thing about the stroker build is the torque on the very bottom if your build pulls double duty as a racer/trail machine. Less shifting and less fatigue. The wider powerband works well in racing because of the wide RPM gap between gears. It just takes a good rider to get the proper traction balance on launch. Another good thing about the stroker is that you can build the power of a high compression race motor in a more tractable package and it doesn't take long to pay for either a big bore or a stroker with the price of race gas vs pump. I personally believe that you will want both in the long run.

One thing you wanna do is find an engine builder that understands what to do with cam ICL, LSA, port volume etc.... to take advantage of either mod. They are extremely rare 8)

Just kidding   I did both at the same time so I couldn't say which is actually better.  I know the crank was way cheap and took a full day of labor, the big bore was twice the price and took less than an hour.  The good news is I always have plenty of beer in the garage fridge so that really makes the long labor projects easy to handle

Sorry Tim, I meant no offense to you or any other builders, the RE build is the only one I remember reading about is all.

We're gonna have to double up the beer storage soon

We can compare my stroked 727 to Socal's Kenz bored 727 at LS in oct

There will be an on site dyno. AND from experience the stroker will win every time, nuff said.

My bike for example. Stoke bore/6 mil stroke = 75hp and 58tq on 87 octane. Thank you and have a nice day. FREE rides at Little Sahara.

Ok no matter which way I go its a win win situation.. Im not sure if I want to drop a crank in myself I dont have that kind of time on my hands to do it... my mods so far are barkers,hc3,PcV,dynatek prog.,no box with a cfm adapter,+2tb, evac. valve.. Im guessing now a bigger tb, 105 bigbore 11 to 1, and a +2 head from one of the top guys with the hdd 5050 cam or possibly the web4.. what do you guys think??? should hit 70hp and by the way I feel that it runs well now with bolt ons but we always want more
