Wondering if some of you bigger hitters could help solve the mystery.

Why would someone do a bored 727 vs a stroked stock bore or viceaversa?

#1
big bore to open up air flow around the valves and not decrease rod length as with the +5, allowing the motor to rev well. ease of instaLL
+5 cranks for use with stock bore light HC piston and oem gaskets
most are done out of necessity .......
Both are pointless if you dont have all the other supporting mods

what about power? Would you see more power with one or the other or would it be pretty similar?

ive seen mixed results and personally have done very little big bore or stroke builds,
the bikes i have seen with stroker cranks dont make the power u would expect from the cc size

Maybe you haven't seen the right combination then.

I will take the 727 stroked engine over the bored engine. Your tq curve will be much better on the stroker if all the components are matched for the build.

id like to see some other similar builds around the same cc size to compare.....

We can compare my stroked 727 to Socal's Kenz bored 727 at LS in oct

so are we talking about riding or racing?

would be nice to do all of the above then have a HDD on site to show the differences on paper ;)

Mine will be stockbore,+5 stroker, KDS +2 head, +3 throttle body, 12.5 piston, FCI, Ignition module (when $$$ permits), RJ cam, and Barkers

Hey guys great topic ... Ive been undecided on going bigbore or stroker myself... which set up would rev quicker the stroker or bigbore? Its a tough decision to make being on a budget and seeing alot of good numbers with a stock bore/stroke setup makes it even harder to decide.. What would be the easiest way to get to the 70hp range with a good power curve???
My New Build:

i would think that a stroker revs quicker because of less surface area on the piston.  but you have to honestly answer the question:  am i going to upgrade again in the future?  if you are, i say do the crank and get that out of the way, because the only way to upgrade a bigbore is to split the cases.  i love my stroker, but really dont have a whole lot of seat time yet.

If it were myself and my money I would go with the Bored 727. The main reason why is for the simple fact of labor and splitting the cases.. I wouldn't go and do the stroke unless you have to go in the bottom end. I wouldn't split the cases unless I was doing a +6 or bigger. With a build like this, I would not go in the bottom end. You won't see that  "too much" difference between the two. The bore would be much more cost effective, don't have to split the cases and will get close to the same power. Just in labor you would be saving 5-$700 by not splitting the cases.. So, go with the bore
