which jug/piston options, best price, reliability
« on: August 02, 2009, 01:00:31 PM »
I need to replace or have my jug relseeved. Problem is I'm away from my Rappy and can't work on it. I live in Italy and will be home in November for two weeks, so I need all the parts on standby. So my option is to by a jug and piston either a big bore kit or just get a resleeve and pay the core till I can send mine out as core.

I'm leaning on staying with stock bore, I know I have plenty of power but lag on the top end still, which is more then likely cause from the wear on the bottom of the liner lossing compression, but if I can find a big bore kit out there for around the same price as getting a resleeve, plus the price of a BB piston I might just go big bore. The BB will definately help on the top end power.

Where are the deals and who would you all recommend. I've dealt with Steven at TQS a few times, but I'm still way confused on the bore possibilities etc....

I do want to stay with the 11-1 piston too.

You could look for a trashed out cylinder and have it sleeved. I'm not sure if Bo is doing work anymore, but his turnaround time for me was FAST and DEAD reliable with my 14.25 compression. I'm not really a fan of Nikasil. Every time you want to put a fresh serface on the cylinder you have to have it recoated (at about 250 a pop). With a sleeve you just take it to a machine shop and have it bored out, or a new hone. I started with a 105 and next season I may have to take it out to a 105.5. I have two hard season of riding on my 105.
Just a little 81hp trail bike.

Plane tickets would be good...... I'm sure there are a few folks that would be willing to help with that one  If you ever get to Russia, pretty much any of those teenage girls would do
