Well, I finally found the girlfriend's favorite sport, skiing.  I never knew it about her, even for the last five years, but evidently her family used to do it all the time and she loves to go.  Her family just recently moved up to the northern Illinois border so they're a little closer to the slopes now.  It was pretty exciting and I think it'll be a nice alternative to quad riding when it's too cold out to ride.  It's not like she's really itching to throw a leg over a Raptor so it surprised me to see the enjoyment on her face when speeding down the slopes.  She agreed though since I cooperated on this trip, it's about time she went with Jake and I on a quad trip .  When we first pulled in, there's a black diamond run right in front of the lodge with a bunch of freestyle jumps and grinds in it.  First thought was  :jaw: "oh shit, there's no way I can do this."  But after seeing her do the bunny hill, I was itching to try myself.  I eventually warmed up on the bunny hill and made it to the green and then the blue runs.  No black diamonds for me but I did well enough to make it down the blue runs repeatedly without falling, even tried it going straight down without zig zagging to cut some speed, but eventually had to bail at the end because I couldn't stop fast enough.  Enjoy the pics...

We left the "sweet helmets"  :fruity: in the rental shop, they're only for guys named Jake.

Annie says, and I quote, "if they were up your A$$ you'd know where they were!"

Tell me about it.  I got really pissed trying to learn because I kept falling down for what I thought was little mistakes.  At first it's really easy to loose your balance and fall.  Once I figured out to keep weight on the front of my skis and only on the downhill leg, things got a lot easier.

My neck, arms, and calves are SUPER sore today.  Feels like the first time I went riding on my old 660 LOL. :poke:

Skiing is tons of fun....

one of my personal passions in the winter... i actually went out last weekend to one of the top 10 resorts in nort america...

i do prefer the steep and deep though...

if that peak would have been open (closed due to sever avalanche risk) we would have hiked it...

we dropped into those trees shortly after this picture was taken

terrain parks are for kids... its all about the natural hits...

take your pick of way down!!! hah...

HOLY COW :jaw:  That's quite the view and the slope!  Ummm... I think I'm going to stick to the blue slopes until I have a little more experience. ;)
