I'm going to Colorado in Feb. to a ski resort called Monarch Mtn...  Any of you ever been there?  I'm a first timer... Any advice....  Snowboard or skis?   HELP ME.....

Personally, I haven't been on a snowboard yet but I'm itching to try.  I tried the skis first and from what I'm told, they're easier to control for beginners than a board.  I had a good experience with it, just wish I could've figured out some tricks they don't teach you in those lessons I took.

What helped me was, it's kind of like sidestepping some steep stairs going down the hill.  The more you zig-zag, the more speed you scrub off.  You more or less hop to change direction when going side to side.  And to start, always keep your weight out in front of you.  It helps keep you in control of the skis.  Otherwise, everything else will come to you quite naturally.  Good luck

have you ever skated (ice skates o roller blades?)... or wakeboarded or skateboarded...

if you have skated then i would say go with ski's

if your a board person... go with a snowboard...

the learning curve on a snowboard is pretty steep and expect your ass to be sore... but most people pick it up fairly quickly...

on skis you have to control two feet where as a snowboard is one...

i do both, i prefer skiing as i am a far better skiier so when i go to the mountains i would rather ski the double blacks than snowboard on the blues...

its a personal choice... if you get a chance to try em at a local small ski hill give both a try and see which you like better...
