Another damn paddle tire question! 20x10x10 or 21x12x8?

I only get to dune once a year (out west) and have not gotten a chance to take the raptor yet (this will be the first year). I mostly drag and just all around dune. I used to have a DS so had extremes on that (23x12x12 9 paddle).

I just won some brand new 20x10x10 8 paddle extremes on ebay for 71 bucks (have to love no reserve!). I asked skat-trak if they would exchange for me and they said yes.

SO...think I should go with a 21x12x8 instead (again 8 paddle extreme)? I am thinking the wider/taller tire (more rollout) combined with more sidewall for flex will help for drags.

I only have Barkers/PCIII/Prodesign K&N/Evac valve and programmable dynatek. But I do plan for the following year to have true 11:1 (stock bore) HCIII, head P&P and possibly... (if it works out) be +5 stroker.

So I dont want to get 7 paddles and be under-paddled for when I get more power mods. On the opposite side I dont want to be WAY over paddled now... I think 9 paddle extremes would be way over-paddled for what i have now but might be a closer fit with all the mods (if I did the +5...maybe too much paddle without that).

I got used to not really "whipping" the quad around when I had my 730 (too heavy) so sliding is not that big of a deal to me. This fact also makes me lean toward the 21x12x8's.

It would also be cheaper to find some 8 inch wheels than it is the 10's...so I have that going for me also.

Thoughts???

Go with a 9 paddle. You can "over inflate" a little this trip to compensate. Then when you do your mods you will not have to buy new tires.

I think 21x12x8 9 paddle extremes would be a bit much ,even with piston/cam/P&P... Maybe in the 20x10x10 since those would be a bit easier to spin up.

The more I think about it, the better the 21x12x8 sounds...2 inches wider, an inch taller, and two more inches of sidewall to flex.

I really prefer a 21-12-8 Paddle. Go with an extreme they do not crack as easy as a hauler.
As far as paddles go with an 8 paddle. That is close to a 9 paddle hauler

What mods do you have? I am thinking an 8 paddle extreme will grip quite well in 21x12x8 I know my 9 paddle extremes on the DS hooked really well, and that was putting down 75whp.

When I put my big 3 on, I slapped some 22x11x8 8 paddle triple buff haulers. I had a hell of a time keepin the front down in 3rd. When I get a swinger, I'll run em again. The 20's are just a bad choice all around for nearly any 700 raptor with the slightest of mods. If your set between these 2 choices, then get the 21's and don't look back.

For what you say you want to do I would exchange them for a set of 22 x 11 x 8 eight paddle extremes and run stock gearing for all the samer reasons you say you want to go to the 21's  Just my 02 for what it's worth. That's a hard combo to beat IMHO.

So you think 22x11x8 instead of 21x12x8? (in 8 paddle extreme)

I will do whatever is the better tire!

He should have no problem spinning the 9's and they should be fine for you.

Maybe jake's build is weaksauce? ;)

I liked my 23x11x12 9 paddle extremes on 75whp (550 lbs)

So figure im at 50whp and over 100+ lbs less on the bike.

I am now debating between the 22x11x8's or 22x11x10's (both 8 paddle extreme). Seems like the 10's would be easier to spin/slide but the 8's would launch better (more sidewall).

What are you looking to get for your 9's jake? (they are 21x12x8 extremes right?)
