I was in Study Hall trying to catch a nap before physics class started (Junior Year in Highschool).  I saw bits and pieces on the channel one news (nationwide highschool news program), but it didn't really sink in what was going on.  After I woke up a little more, I cought on to the situation and decided to skip the rest of the day and go out to lunch with a few friends to watch everything on TV.  I didn't realize how bad the situation was until the second plain hit, after that I was glued to the TV for the next 24 hours.

  channel one, tht is stil around. They had just started that when I graduated-93'
Krandall: "peelz. I'll be real with you. As much as I hate on you for soccer, I really don't mind it"

When the first plane struck, I called the F.E. Warren AFB armory to advise them we would be drawing weapons so we could secure our off-base facility...

How did you come to the conclusion that it was terrorists after the first plane struck and before the second plane struck 15 minutes later?

I just showed up to work (a DOD base) and heard about the first plane hitting.  I remember thinking, "Damn, there must have been some heavy fog for a plane to run into a building."  It was only after the second plane hit that our base locked everything down.

Because of our connection to WADS, NORAD, and what is now Northcom, we had more info before most.  But like I said, we planned for the worst and weren't completely wrong  :(

Was working night shift at the time.  I woke up and turned on the TV for some reason, tried channel surfing for a minute because everything looked like CNN.  Then it sank in that something bad was happening.  The company I worked for at the time had several DOD contracts so our security was tightened quite a bit.  We had people in other parts of the country that were stuck, and people from other parts of the country stuck here as well.  It was a very strange couple days.

I was at home sleeping when my wife woke me up and said you better see this. I knew this was the largest most dangerous call any FD had faced. When the buildings went down and I could hear the PLD,s "personal locating device" going off on the TV I knew we had a lot of dead and hurt people. We ended up going to New York about 6 weeks later for funeral duty. They did not have enough men to go to all the funerals they were having every day. I went to the pit and talked with guys that were waiting for their family members to be found. That was the day i became a right wing hawk. In my opinion the greatest Americans we have today are the men and women fighting to kill the shitheads that did this.Yea I am bitter and pissed off.

Busby

I was working in my buddies garage servicing a customers car when I heard it on the BBC news on tv, I stopped working to watch it and work out what was happening. Then got a ear bashing by my buddy for standing around not working  until he realised what was happening we ended up with all of the guys from the other work units in our workshop watching the tv & couldn't believe what was happening.
Very sad day to think of even now.

There where kids from NYC and Penn. area that spent most the rest of the day trying to make sure there family was OK. One guys father was only a few miles away from the PA plane that went down riving to work. It was truely a sad day!! WE WILL NEVER FORGET!!

7 years ago today I was on an American Airlines 727 (Right before they were retired!) headed to Cancun, Mexico. The plane was virtually empty. We jumped seats and sat in the cush first class seats and talked with flight attendants about the attacks. There were maybe 20 people on this airplane including the crew. The captain kept coming on and thnaking us all for our faith in the airline every five minutes.
