I found this post on another forum. Mad Dog was there and looked in to the tax area and I'll post the snoops article in the next post.
Here is the post:
This is just a little 3 part report that I found very interesting. With the "issues" that are on a certain party's platform, against a certain president, I suggest looking at who really is to blame.
Part 1
In just one year . Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following:
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate
(stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
7) USA Today pointed out the "down trend" in the economy after 12 years of prosperity. Does that mean we have had 7 years of prosperity with Bush?? I can't believe they admit it. They certainly never give him any credit for that.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with
what's handed to him.
Quote of the Day........"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the
history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it."
-- Barack Obama
Part 2:
Taxes... Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics
enlightening and amazing.
<http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html>;
www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html
Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250
Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates
It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush
is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama
or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and
a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait
for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you
scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.
PART 3:
You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this:
Boy am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the
Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us.
I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.
I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until the y

Are we THAT stupid?
Interesting statistics that you will never read in mainstream media. Whatever your politics, however you
lean, however you feel about the current administration, this report should open some eyes. As tragic as
the loss of any member of the US Armed Forces is, consider the following statistics:
The annual fatalities of military members while actively serving in the armed forces from 1980 through
2006:
1980 ....... 2,392 (Carter Year)
1981 ........2,380 (Reagan Year)
1984 ........1,999 (Reagan Year)
1988 ........1,819 (Reagan Year)
1989 ........1,636 (George H W Year)
1990 ........1,508 (George H W Year)
1991 ........1,787 (George H W Year)
1992 .........1,293 (George H W Year)
1993 .........1,213 (Clinton Year)
1994 .........1,075 (Clinton Year)
1995 .........2,465 (Clinton Year)
1996 ..........2,318 (Clinton Year)
199 7 ........817 (Clinton Year)
1998 .........2,252 (Clinton Year)
1999 .........1,984 (Clinton Year)
2000 .........1,983 (Clinton Year)
2001 ..........890 (George W Year)
2002 ........ 1,007 (George W Year)
2003 ........ 1,410 (George W Year)
2004 ........ 1,887 (George W Year)
2005 .......... 919 (George W Year)
2006.............920 (George W Year)
2007............899 (George W Year)
Clinton years (1993-2000): 14,000 deaths
George W years (2001-2006): 7,932 deaths
If you are surprised when you look at these figures, so was I. These figures mean that the loss from the two
latest conflicts in the Middle East are LESS than the loss of military personnel during Bill Clinton's
Presidency; when America wasn't even involved in a war!
And, I was even more shocked when I read that in 1980, during the reign of President (Nobel Peace Prize
Winner) Jimmy Carter, there were 2,392 US military fatalities! I think that these figures indicate that many
members of our Media and our Politicians will pick and choose the information on which they report.
Of course we all know that they present only those 'facts' which support their agenda-driven reporting.
But why do so many of them march in loc k-step to twist the truth? Where do so many of them get their
marching-orders for their agenda?
Do you want further proof? Consider the latest census, of Americans. It shows the following FACTS about
the distribution of American citizens, by Race:
European descent .....................69.12%
Hispanic .....................................12.5%
Black ...........................................12.3%
Asian ...........................................3.7%
Native American .......................1.0%
Other ...........................................2.6%
Now... here are the fatalities by Race; over the past three years in Iraqi Freedom:
European descent (white) ......74.31%
Hispanic ........ .......................... 10.74%
Black ..........................................9.67%
Asian ........................................ 1.81%
Native American ......................1.09%
Other ..........................................0.33%
I was surprised again. . .until it became clear to me that the point here is that our mainstream media
continues to spin these figures (for political gain). Nothing more.
It's all about politics and some politicians, are now famous for turning American against American for a
vote. Hillary's stump speech after her Super Tuesday 'victory' stating that the current administration does
not 'listen' to anyone and continues the war costing precious American lives. Yes, I might even agree with
her, but she should be made to acknowledge her own husband's administration, without having an actual
war, sent more soldiers to death during his term while also forcing the military to release Osama when we
actually had him detained.
I hope that during the time between now and November, that intelligent Americans can decipher the facts
from the spin and the spinners from the leaders; those who seek even more power from those that seek
justice, the dividers from the uniters.
Over the next months let's be good listeners (yes, Hillary and Barak we are listening) and see and hear who
tries to divide our nation; and who wants to unite our nation. Who wants to control how our money is
spent and who wants our money spent the way we would spend it. Who seeks power and who seeks
justice? Who spins the facts and who is genuine.

we cannot blame a political party for the economic downturn. We created it ourselves. Interesting stats though.
Actually, Congress was a Republican Congress for the first four years of the current douche bag's term. For the last year and a half is now mostly Democrat. Bush having veto power, he can just continue to stall anything Congress or the House does.
Bush is a lame duck. Lame Duck = Officials or in the peculiar position of not facing the consequences of his actions in the next election, meaning they are generally considered not accountable for their actions.
We CAN blame a political party for the economic downturn. The writing was on the wall, and the current administration should have been more proactive on the matter. Instead, they have been more concerned with Iraq and lining the pockets of big oil.
Taxes may go up with a Democrat in office, but it's to pay for the mess that Bush created over the last eight years. Either way, anything is better than what we have in office now.
Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate
(stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
The current Congress isn't at fault.......The effects of the current Congress won't be felt immediatley.

The taxes will not go up to pay for "the mess that Bush created over the last eight years" Thats just a close minded point of view, they have always been more for the social causes and had the taxes in place for that. And Bush didn't line the pockets of big oil.....we did. Its a supply and demand world......nothing we can do to change that. We need to get the oil that is here and keep working on fuel cells. And congress can over turn his veto now that they have the numbers they need. Look at the voting records and read the laws they are passing. If you just watch the news you will never see what is really going on.
Look who passed the laws to allow the lenders to do the funky loans and PUSHED it through the white house.
Look who has backed the unions as they push up wages so high companies can't afford it so they have to move work over seas driving unemployment to an all time high as we loose more and more jobs to other countries.
Look who has passed the laws for "consumer rights" to make it easier to sue your doctors pushing medical insurance premiums through the roof.
Read the laws that are being passed and who is sponsoring them, this is all public records. There is where you will really see what is happening.
Either way, good arguments on each side, but I won't vote for someone I think will end up like another Bush.

I'm not a big fan of him....yet. But I'm happy to see that he's been working hard to work with the other side. I think the only way anything will get done is for them to work together. I like that he does that. I'm not going to vote for Obama because of the social things he is pushing for, the taxes for those will cost more then this war ever has. Plus I haven't heard what "change" he's really talking about. Universal health care is one thing he's strong for and that won't be good for this country....it hasn't worked for any other country, how is it going to work here. And he's for gun control.....doesn't take a smart man to know that will make things worse.
I really have heard much of McCain's plan either.
There does need to be some gun control. Automatic weapons should not be available to the public. Too many illegal weapons floating around, being passed from douche bag to scum bag at gun shows. I own two shotguns, and neither have been fired in ten years.
The "change" I think Obama is taliking about is overall change. Another President like Bush and we will be in big trouble. I think he has some good ideas, and I am willing to keep an open mind. I plan on watching the debates, and I am looking forward to hearing what both men have to say. I am also curious as to who will be the Vice President.

I'm all for the automatic guns going away. There is no need for those. I would like to see better background checks but that would burn up a ton of tax money. I would like to see better laws, not outlawing guns.

no need to burn up tax money. Just have a test we have to take to measure intelligence, then give us a "gun license", which we pay for of course. I would gladly pay it. I was shocked a few years ago when I got into shooting and bought my first rifle. Just paid for it and walked out. I was like, "that's all I need to do, that's a bit scary"
I'm so confused :'( :'( :lol:
Bush let the Brady Bill expire, the bill named for James Brady, who was shot by John Hinckley, Jr. during an attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1981.
The Brady Bill Act initially required purchasers to wait up to five days for a background check to occur before being allowed to purchase a handgun. If the background check was returned before the five days had elapsed, then the transfer could occur at that time, and if the check had not been completed in five days, then the transfer was allowed to occur. In some states, proof of a previous background check could be used to bypass the wait. For example, a state-issued concealed carry permit usually included a background check equivalent to the one required by the Act and could be used in place of the Act's check. Many states passed shall issue concealed carry laws in the wake of the Act's passing. The Act applied only to transfers from a dealer licensed to sell guns by the Treasury Department to a private individual. Sales between private parties could not be covered under the Act because the federal government had no jurisdiction to restrict intrastate commerce. The provision in the Act that mandated local law enforcement officials to carry out background checks was struck down by the Supreme Court in 1997 because, the court ruled, it violated the Federalism provisions of the Constitution (see below). In many jurisdictions, no attempt was made to process the background checks, and the Act became a simple five day waiting period.
The waiting period provision of the Act expired in 1998 when the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) came online. NICS is managed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The system runs database checks on criminal records. A handgun purchaser may still have to wait for up to three business days if the NICS system fails to positively approve or deny his or her application to purchase a firearm; if the denial is not issued within those three days, the transfer may be completed at that time. State alternatives to the background check, such as state-issued handgun permits or mandatory state or local checks, may still bypass the NICS check.

Didn't they replace it with a new bill? I remember that because I was pissed that he did that, but then I thought they replaced it with a new one.
I wouldn't call it replaced. I think there needs to be a five day rule still. More of a "cooling off" period in case someone decides to buy a gun and go shooting in a school.
The five-day waiting period for handgun purchases expired on November 30, 1998 and was replaced by a computerized criminal background check prior to any firearm purchase from a dealer holding a Federal Firearms License (FFL). All dealers, manufacturers and importers must verify the identity of a non-FFL customer and receive authorization from the National Instant Check System (NICS) which often takes only minutes instead of the several-day waiting period.
Unless an exception applies or the purchase is being made using an approved alternative method, Brady Law requires that background checks for individuals be conducted before a firearm may be purchased from a dealer, manufacturer or importer. Unless there are additional state restrictions, the firearm may be taken upon NICS approval. Purchases from a non-FFL seller are not subject to the Brady Law, but may be covered under other federal, state, and local restrictions. This distinction prevails without regard to the locus of the sale. Thus FFL sales at gun shows are still subject to NICS approval while private sales are not. The so-called "Gun Show Loophole" would be more accurately called a "Private Sale Loophole."
The Brady Law does not apply to licensed Curios & Relics (C&R) collectors, but only in respect to C&R firearms. The FFL Category 03 Curio & Relic license costs $30 and is valid for 3 years. Licensed C&R collectors may also purchase C&R firearms from private individuals or from federal firearms dealers, whether in their home state or in another state, and ship C&R firearms in interstate commerce by common carrier. Curios or relics are defined in 27 CFR 478.11 as "Firearms which are of special interest to collectors by reason of some quality other than is associated with firearms intended for sporting use or as offensive or defensive weapons." The regulation further states
To be recognized as curios or relics, firearms must fall within one of the following categories:
(a) Firearms which were manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof;
(b) Firearms which are certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; or
(c) Any other firearms which derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or because of their association with some historical figure, period, or event. Proof of qualification of a particular firearm under this category may be established by evidence of present value and evidence that like firearms are not available except as collector's items, or that the value of like firearms available in ordinary commercial channels is substantially less.

I think that's more accurate. I've been allot of places that lullabied the kids to sleep with the sound of gunfire

I do agree there is a problem with guns in the US though. I'm just not smart enough to know an answer that keeps the spirit of the 2nd ammendment and protects the people.

Really? Down there? What about the west bank?
The US has more gun related deaths than anyone in the world. Canada has a larger percentage of gun owners than the US and has very few gun related deaths.
An average of 81 people die per day in ths US to gun related deaths.
~Brian
Too much stupid here I guess.
But I would think it would be much higher in other parts of the world, but if you have some facts on it I would love to see it. I could be shocked.

Canada and Switzerland have higher percentages of gun owners and have far less gun related crimes/murders.

Exactly.
Cooling of period.
We have more reported gun related deaths/crimes in this country than any country in the world.
~Brian
I think that's more accurate. I've been allot of places that lullabied the kids to sleep with the sound of gunfire
lebanon comes to mind.
Pick any central African country :(
I do agree there is a problem with guns in the US though. I'm just not smart enough to know an answer that keeps the spirit of the 2nd ammendment and protects the people.
Aaron
The problem is the 2nd Amendment protects the rights of the idiots out there too.
I don't have a problem with people owning guns, but I don't understand why you would need to own an arsenal.
~Brian
Yeah, the guys with a war room scare the hell out of me.
I bet the statistics would show the guys with an arsenal are responsible for less crimes than the ignorant jackass with one.
Aaron
VERY true, those are the ones that usually never use them for crime. But I still don't see why they need all that. Plus I would run like hell if they snapped.
Well run then bitch, cause I'm bout to snap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:grin_nod:
You? I'm not worried. :lol:
Me and Lee Harvey had the same MOS in the Corps!! ;)
Lee Harvey wasn't the only person involved in the shooting. The one theory is bullshit.

These discussions go now here but butt hurttin street.
I have been apart of a couple forum discussions of gun control, the ended up with everyone bitching and agruing. Not worth it.

We are all adults, and we are very civil to each other. I think you would get different responses on "other" forums. So far, everyone here is calm and collective.
