Rear brake

Just replaced my rear brake pads after 4 rides wore them to the metal.  Now my parking brake doesn't work and the brakes rub.  I drove it a few hundred yards and the rotor was hot as hell.  Is there a way to adjust them?  Fix the parking break?  I was also wondering if what appears to be a grease fitting on the rear brake assembly with a little rubber seal over it.  Is that a grease fitting?  Thanks for any advice, you guys are awesome!

The fitting you are referring to is how you bleed the brakes (Bleeder valve).

What happens specifically when you try to use the parking brake?

you could (long shot) have a bad caliper....

Was it tight when you put the new pads over the rotor?

When I changed the pads I screwed the piston all the way in so that I could get the new pads on.  I am pretty sure I did the same thing last time without messing up my parking break.  The brakes work (not sure how well, haven't really tested), but the parking break doesn't seem to engage the brake.  It does move the lever at the rear brake though.

I noticed my rear caliper was sticking and i couldn't get that plate to be springy.There was crud caked up under the rubber boots.So i loosened the nut(pic #1) and spun the plate downward to pull out the other side(pic#2). Pulled out the whole plate the the rod that is connected to it. cleaned out the holes regreased and reassembled. Now it works as good as new. Just wished i remembered to grab my camera before i put it all back together.
