What lead you to buying your Raptor?

I had a kfx400 before my 700. I knew I out grew it when I jumped on a 660 one day at the river, that thing ripped! So thats when I decided I needed a new ride. Polaris just came out with the 525 IRS. So I had that in my sights plus a 700 and a kfx450. Well my brother bought the Polaris 450 and it felt tiny to me so the Polaris was out. As a matter of fact the KFX was out too. So when I figured out that the 700 was fuel injected I had my sights on one. I was going to buy e new 08' with the red frame and gray plastic, when I stumbled on the 07 SE2. I knew I had to get the 07 SE2, so ebay and craigslist is where I began. I finally found a repo at a car lot 200 miles south of me. I called the guy and convince him to take it home with him and let me pick it up after work. I got to his house at 2am that night. The guy was super cool. We tore up his neighborhood for a minute in Dallas, talk about being scared shitless. Anyhow I loaded that baby up and the rest of the story you know about.

My friend bought a banshee, and let me ride it. I decided that day I will own a quad. But not necessarily a sport. Went and looked and bought  a brand new prairie. Good fun 4x4 and the wifey could ride it too. A few months later, I was telling my boss about it, he said he had a Raptor 660. I had ZERO clue what the hell that was  Id heard of 250r's blasters, shees, and warriors. Thats about it as far as sport quads go.

He had bought it for his kids, but had wrecked and rolled himself into a tree. ANd wanted rid of it... I told my wife about it, she said go look, we can ride together.. It only took one ride.   went home wrote a check, picked it up a day later.

Went to Yamaha shop to buy some supplies (it had been sittin) While in there, I Saw the most gorgeous motorized vehicle I had ever seen.... the SE2. The fake blue carbon fiber accents glistened in the store lights like a beacon calling out "you need me now....!" Rocked that 660 for awhile...but it kepy breaking things... so...

I decided to call around for a new 700. TO my surprise, the local dealer still had one. THE EXACT SAME ONE I SAW YEARS BEFORE. He just rolled it back to the warehouse since it wasnt sellin. It was meant to be I tell ya.

Always wanted a 660, found one in Edmond (Dad didn't talk to me for two weeks ). Had it for 3 years and loved it, but was tired of looking for parts that weren't made anymore and getting beat by everyone and their 3 legged dog so sold it to my brother. Found a good deal in Wichita on a grey/red 08 and here I am now :)!

I have always loved bikes and quads but parents always said they were too dangerous and that they would not buy it for me, if I wanted it i would have to buy it with my own money. So I got a job on the year 2000 and 1.5 years later got me a a 1996 CR250 mx bike, used it for about 1.5 years and sold it to get a 2001 CR125R with a crapload of mods (complete Pro circuit pipe, v-force carbon reed valve system, factory connection revalved resprung shocks, etc). Used it for a couple of years and sold it. On 2006 my best friend started with quads, he had a King Quad 700 and said that he was getting into serious trail riding and that I would really like it. He let me ride his brother's z400 and I was hooked, a week later I had my brand spanking new 2005 Raptor 660. Fell in love and modded it a little. Had to sell it at the end of 2007 and turned my rappy into the bed, fridge, oven, etc  :(. My wife saw I was pretty down and stressed for about a year and she did not think it was fair that I had to sell it so 2 years ago more or less the 2 of us were having a couple of drinks at 9PM and the doorbell rings. I open the door and my best friend is standing with my current quad just outside the front door! My wife paid for half of it and I paid the rest in 6 months. Gotta love the wifey!!!!  Now she's not too happy with the mod obsession but now there is no way in hell I'll sell it.

I grew up on fourwheelers in Mn, went to cali and everyone was talking about dunes this and dunes that. I went out with my friends and was in pure amazment with the dunes. I rode a z400,yfz450,banshee,honda 450,raptor 660 all in one day. Went home that night and started looking for quads, I wanted new and was looking at yfz's then ran across the 06 raptor 700 in white/silver and I fell in love. I read about it, jumped on raptorforum and started reading up more and I knew it was the sport quad for me.
I needed a co-signer at the time and all my family was in MN and I was in CA. I found a dealer close to my home town and they had one in stock for 6800.00, I had a family member go in and take care of the paperwork and they found a shipping company that sent it out to Huntington beach yamaha for 400.00$. I was at work and had to have 2 friends go pick it up. I got home from work and there it was, crate and all! My first ride was in my apartment complex on pavement. My eyes were so big and my heart was pumping so hard! I knew it was the perfect quad!

I used to ride a old honda 250r 3 wheeler.......always getting passed by 660s.........
one of my work buddies flipped and wrecked on his 660 pretty bad wanted to get rid of it so i bought it.....(first rappy i ever had) loved the power.

then a couple of years ago peels was going to come visit and my rappy was not up to par so i figured it was the perfect time to get a new one....  :woot:
and of course he broke it in with style with a badass wheelie.......  :rev:

I had a wolverine 450 that I thought was pretty quick...clutch work (cvt), piped, intake and jetted (yes MD, that's a mod ;) ).  On a Friday, one of my buddies stopped over with his new '07 SE that he just basically stole from a dealership because it was a leftover model (this was in the spring of '08 ).

We raced down my street one time, and that stock raptor pretty much destroyed my wolverine...it wasn't even a race, so I had to have one.  Called up that same dealership, found out they had a white '07 GYTR edition in the back for the same price...went and picked it up the following day.  Been down hill ever since.  The funny thing is, I told myself I would NEVER mod this quad...I thought it was crazy fast in stock form .  That sure didn't last long.
'07 powerwheels raptor...with a belt driven twin screw centrifugal turbocharger!  Wait for it, wait for it...!

After granddaughter's boyfriend  jumped  my 400ex of the road  thought a five strand barb wire fence
,he looked like he was in a cat fight but no major problems.  The helmet that broke and the goggles that got a big sarach saved his face. My wife said I needed a new quad that wasn't messed up .
I drove past  the dealer setting in the front window was a new 05  660
told them I will be back in a hour to pick it up.

well the theory was that we bought a quad for the wife & a 2 wheeler for me.
The best value quad we saw was an '03 660 with very low hours cos the guy who owned it had hurt his back.
Well I liked the 660 better than the wife did, so we ended up getting her a suzi LTZ400.
Then we divorced & I started modding..........................

BTW there does seem to be a trend of quads & divorce in this thread..........

Have thought about a 700, but I would have to spend big bucks to even get close to what I have now.
& what I have now, including mods so far, has still only cost me what a new 700 would in good ol' NZ
