Looking at finally getting my raptor back together after blowing a head gasket and wiping the cylinder and piston on my 105.5 bore. Engine got hot so have some concern with the crank and con rod, so I am looking at kits.

TQS has a 778 kit that I can get for about 970 shipped. Can't see what crank they use, so not sure about those.

Works kit (770cc) I can get for about 850 shipped. Assume they are decent kits but probably a heavy crank and piston, but probably reliable.

Emailed whitknuckleracing to see what they can do.

I'm not trying to get the max hp and sure am not trying to spend over a grand for everything. So asking y'alls opinion on the kits above.

Other mods to the engine are
Kennys TB bore
Hot Cams stage II
PCIII
dynatak prog controller

The TQS kit may be more $$ but has been proven by many guys on the forums. The crank is a +5 Hotrods. Reliable crank unless you are constantly over 7500 rpm. Best of luck with the new build

You could do a +5 crank and then spend the remainder on some head work to go with that TB. Id say that would run you about 400-500 bucks for the head work and 285-300 for the crank. Shop around and you could probably even do it for less. A well done 727 is better than a choked 770 or 778.

Also, do you have any type of intake or filter kit in there?

There are shops that will place a groove around your cylinder and head, then a ring inside the head that will compress your head gasket and create a much stronger seal. Might stop you from blowing your HG in the future. That's what im going to try. Woofers67 or Velociraptor can steer you in the right direction. They float around ModdedRaptor most of the time.

Thanks for the input and advice.

Also, yes on the intake, I have the Fuel ATV intake/filter.

I know I need to do some port work to really gain some good power too.

I strongly agree with Alkire on his points... most of the power on the raptor will rely on a good head, cam and piston with 11.5 to 1 compression or higher. If get a higher end port with +2mm valves you can always build up the CC's later but in the meantime a good cam, and Piston will get you moving quickly in the right direction. The mod bug is a terrible addiction but I love the power

ordered the 778 kit from Steve at TQS, showed up at the house already, when I get a chance will do a port job on the head and throw it all back together. Guess I will have to do a search for a tune on some of the sites and see what I can come up with.

Hopefully Hig Desert will be out and about somewhere so I can get it dynotuned.

Lots of dyno shops can tune it for you, just find someone local to get a program on there that works for you.
