Cracked cases?
« on: February 17, 2011, 08:25:41 PM »
I was just installing a new skid plate and noticed I might have a crack in my case. I cant tell if its a casting mark or not. Ive been fighting a leaking clutch cover so I'm not sure if oil is coming out of it our not.

What do you think?

It looks a little uniform to me, but it also feels alot like a crack.

Just a little 81hp trail bike.

looks like a cast line IMO. The line / curve is almost a perfect 90 (with a rounded corner).

Cast doesn't crack like that.

looks a bit straight to be a crack. Interesting. How do you crack a case? Did you drop it

But then again, why would there be a casting line right there? hmmm.

Cracks usually don't choose straight lines and rounded corners.   Although, i must say, it sure doesn't make sense being there from the factory either. Strange. Wish I could look at it in person.

pretend you didn't see it and think happy thoughts, that's what I always do and it works out great.
