Swinger lengths...

Ok so I may look at getting a swinger for drag/dune purposes...I don't do much of either so I plan on keeping my stock swinger for trails. With that in mind, would a +4 or +6 be better for a 70hp setup? I am not sure which sand paddles I will have, just whatever I can get cheapest considering I'd only use them a handful of times a year. I was thinking +4 so it'd be somewhat trailable at places like LS OK and possibly still useable in some of the bigger trails I go to down here. On the other hand for drags a +6 would keep the front down a lot easier.

So, opinions/experiences?

I think Roy has had very good luck on his +3, and I believe chain fitment is better than a plus 4.......

+2 looks better  (the extent of my knowledge :)

Mine is a +3 stock swingarm and it is perfect for any trail and is just right for drag racing. the front end stays planted and the rear actually squates and hooks on a hard launch  the picture in my signature is a +3

+1 fir badazz. You can hit the throttle hard and it stays Planted pretty well. Still can do wheelies if you want which is sweet and trails are no problem. And it's a heavily modded quad too

Another factor I forgot to think of...Would my rear shock needed to be adjusted also for a longer swinger if I wanted to ride it for longer than a 300ft drag (say an open trail area)?

No, that's what your wife keeps telling you in the bedroom.

Idk about the shock adjustment thing. The way I see it the longer the swingarm the more leverage there is against the shock when you hit a bump. So assuming the shock mount is in th same spot a longer swinger would make the ride softer? At least that's what I'm coming up with I could be wrong

Spartan

I have been seeing more people getting their shocks "lengthened" for the extended swingers, even +4s. I am looking at the +3 option too, I would hate to have to keep swapping my swinger every other week if I decided to go trail riding or dragging.

sorry, but it was too easy...and had to be done

Honestly the plus three should be fine for a 70 up bike. I know it holds up fine on hill climbs and trails on a 727

Spartan

Does the +3 tend to push like I hear lengthened swingers do? I am +2 wide now too so trying not to go too long trail wise unless I bite the bullet on some 4+1 front rims and drop down a spacer on the axle.

Gunz

Get a +3 or 4. No true difference. They are both trailable. They will have some push to them, but if you drop the ass end some and adjust the camber and caster of the arms, that will alleviate most if not all the push. Your shock will have to be revalved for the + size swinger to have the full advantage of having it. My suggestion, if you are truely confident that you have 70hp and want an all around bike, go with the +3 swinger.
