What's the trick to keeping the assembly housing over the positioning nipple near the radiator?

Everytime I cinch up the two bracket bolts the assembly slips off the nipple.

Nipple.

Sure. I'll post a picture of my nipple.

The headlight assembly attaches to the quad at three points: two on the fender stay (in this case the potmetal/aluminum bracket thingy the rectifier attaches to) and a positioning nipple. The nipple is pictured just above the shock mount, near the radiator.

Yep. The grommet sits inside a hole in the housing.

I think I'm going to order a new fender stay. Maybe it's bent or something.

That's weird. No idea. yeah, only thing I can think of is the bracket the light is on.

that is weird, has it been rolled badly?

My wife barrel rolled it off a stump last summer but nothing dramatic or anything like that. And the headlight assembly, etc. was still attached and working. One of the tabs on the assembly broke off so I figured I'd swap it  out, which led to all this fuss.

I agree: Weird.

Mine were like that after a crash.  My brackets were bent :(
