yeah I heard a few of them stories lol

so yeah anyways i got my carbs back today just gotta get them back together and on the bike and get it tuned again  Yes the wait sucked but I only spent $50 on them and not $2,000 so to me the wait was worth the $50. I hope to have it on the go next week sometime.

well I had the raptor out for a test ride the throttle it self is no longer sticking BUT when you even touch the gas on it then it sticks and revs high and doesn't want to idle down. we pulled the plastic covers off the top of the carbs and it seemed to work alot better I know the DIAPHRAGM ASSY is all wore out about 8thou from sand getting in the carbs a few years back when she blew the intake boots off from the airbox that has been fixed but not the DIAPHRAGM ASSY it is still wore out like i say so is there a place i can get the parts to fix that being the whole DIAPHRAGM ASSY at the top of the carbs? I was looking on the yamaha site and its showing me i have to buy all new carbs just to get ANY parts

also she has started sparknocking when you first hit the gas hard im thinking about trying some oct. boster with my next tank of gas im running 91 oct now as its the highest i can get unless i get the oct. booster with it.

any help or ideas would be great.

as you can see in this pic if you want one part you gotta buy every part thats inside the dotted line with it and all i want is the parts numbered #17, #19, #20, and #21 they all heav different part numbers but yamaha wont sell them and single parts they say you much buy everything inside the dotted line or (all new carbs for $1,000 a pop )

I got a (slightly) dirty, but otherwise tidy set of stock carbs off ebay for $90.
The parts you are after I was going to keep, but if you can't find them elsewhere by the end of this week, I will bring them up for you.
I fly out Sunday night (NZ time).

I will ask my local yamaha shop if they sell the diaphrams seperately, would be surprised if they didn't.

Why not? An ebay account is free and so is a paypal one...just link it to a parent's bank account and let them control the PP account.

lol link it to a parent's bank account hahahaha that will never happen lol oh well i found a set of carbs off an 04 660 on ebay for like $100 and a friend of mine said he will get them for me and ill just give him the money for them so that will work i guess just hoping the plastic slides arnt wore out like the ones i got now or that will suck. but i will have more parts with that $100 this way then buy going out and spending $200 on just the slides and still have a chance that it wont fix it and have to go out and spend another few hundred to try and fix something else in the carbs.

well i gotanother set of oem carbs for the raptor it fixed the high reving problem i had once i rejetted them but now i have 2 more problems first one is now its slow to pick up the rpms and when it gets to the top on of the rpm range it wont hold the rpm steady and it picks up and drops and picks up and drops its rpm the other problem is now theres a ton of blow by im not in a good mood at all now i just put in a new piston and rings less then 20 hours ago and just running the motor for tuning only not even getting to go out for a ride yet it looks like its gonna need another set.   I'm about ready to take a set of tourches to the fuckin thing. The carbs are all good nothing wrong with them from what I can see the timing on the crank is good
I'm not 100% sure about the timing on the cam thou. So I'm gonna check that sometime later on. as for the blow by tho why the hell would it eat up a set of rings so fast?

Did you check the ring gap before you put it in?

I mean did you actually put the rings in the cylinder first and checked the gap vs the spec?
