LAND INFORMATION

Nebraska National Forest Lands
Lands managed by the Nebraska National Forest (NNF) in Nebraska are the largest areas of public land in the state covering some 250,000+ plus acres.  These areas are part of the U. S. Forest Service, a federal agency who is responsible for managing vast areas of public land in this great nation.   There are four basic areas managed by the NNF in Nebraska.  These area are, the McKelvie National Forest near Valentine, the Pine Ridge Ranger District near Chadron, the Bessey Ranger District near Halsey and Thedford, and the Oglala National Grasslands located in the far northwest corner of the state.  Trail activities are allowed on all four of the areas managed by the NNF, however different rules exist for each area.

Rafting (whitewater): No
Kayaking (whitewater): No

Comments:
Middle Loup River is shallow and steady flowing.  It is good for
tubing and fair for canoeing.  Campers can bring their own
equipment.  There is one outfitter; call the the Ranger District
Office for information.

HIKING
Scott Lookout Tower Trail (foot only) - 3 miles

Forest is unlimited to foot and horseback but OHVs are limited to
designated trails.

FISHING  
There is 7-acre pond with stocked Largemouth bass, sunfish, crappie
and catfish.  There is also a cleaning station and wheelchair friendly
fishing pier.

Its a very family friendly area. It has a kick ass pool, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and fishing. Free showers....yada yada yada..............

If we get enough peeps I'll see about reserving the group campground. This place is amazing at night people seriously!

Rules are sparkys, but I've never been checked. Still should bring them with. andddddd thats about it. Go slow in the campground and dont run the stop signs.

Most likey I'll be taking a enclosed trailer so all I can hold is 3. So I'll have my buddy with the YFZR and my buddy from des moines on his YFZ. Sorry, man. I'll see what I can do. My big flat bed will not be in use. So if anyone wants to use that its open.

If we end up going im pretty sure you would be on the route to Halsey if not maybe only like 30-40 miles out of the way  ;)

nice. But you are reading it wrong I think. HAlsey area is 90k acres. the entire area of national forest riding area is 250k

but still!!   :clap:

however, we won't have flush toilets, so I wiil use Funyun's 450.  :lol:
