My mount was trashed. Quad is an 06. The only reason I took mine apart was because I was changing the Steering stem.  If anybodies stem has any play or is squeaking  I would recommend you at least inspect your mount and regrease.

is this to cure the annoying squeak i started hearing from just under the handlebars where the stem goes through a bushing? shortly after i got my raptor real muddy and cleaned it a few times mine started making noise from there.

After washing mine I lubed it with synthetic silicone spray & everything seemed fine. I noticed recently that my stem has play in it at the top mount, no dirt has a chance at getting stuck in there  since I can see all the way around the stem

After I wash my quad I hit every moving joint with WD-40. Works damn good!

Yea its hard to believe that no one else is having issues with a squeaky mount or a worn stem mount like mine.

I posted this GB info on another forum, 40 views in several days & no replies.

Just ahead of the times maybe......

I tried looking through my manual this weekend about that bracket seeing how often Yamaha recommended re-greasing their mount. I coulnd't find anything. I know my sock steering stem looks just like that. Worn out.

I agree with vermin88.  Just think how nice it would be to hit your OMI stem mount with a shot of grease    The steering stem mount sees crazy amounts of movement, debris, moisture, and the stem is put under load side to side  front & back by the rider fatiguing Yamaha's  mount.
