Hiper Wheel Problems

I've noticed over the last season that my bolt holes are pulling out of the wheel. I always torque them down to spec with a quality torque wrench. I change my tires once or twice a season, so its not like they are "over used". I always clean and blow out the bolt holes before re-install. These wheels are 2 years old and find it hard to believe that a 1100 dollar set of wheels will only last TWO YEARS! IF you torque the bolts down with tires in place they will loose all air with in a matter of 20-30 minutes. I know that they have replaceable sides, but this is total BS! I'm getting kinda pissed about it. I sent Hiper a E-mail twice concerning this and haven't herd so much of a peep from them. Come to find out there is only a one year warrenty on Hipers, but still this is OBVIOUSLY a manufacture defect. I don't think a discount or even a free replacement is out of line here. I mean come on, 1100 dollars for wheels that you have to replace every two years?

Here's the E-mail I sent, and I'm still waiting for a responce.

"I sent the E-mail below on Monday and have not recieved a responce. I want to give Hiper the benifit of the doubt and assume that my work E-mail was blocking your responce. Please get in contact with me when you can.

Hiper Technology,

I've had a set of Hiper Tech3 wheels on my 2007 Yamaha Raptor for a couple of years now and noticed that they threaded insert for the ring bolts are all starting to pull out of the wheel. I change my tires a couple of times a season and ALWAYS torque them down per your specs. I don't race and just ride on the weekends. I'm a little upset that a wheel that's this expensive and only a couple of years old is already ruined. On my last trip the rear tires wouldn't even hold air due to the threaded inserts pulling out of the rim. I use to praise Hiper wheels on all the forums I talk on, now I'm starting to rethink my kind words towards your product. I've already had to buy all new rings because for some reason the bolts would pull through the rings and never tighten down. I've had my torque wrench checked a couple of times to ensure its accuracy, and it's always dead on. I have two other buddies that I ride with that don't bother to torque the rings down to spec and just hammer on them with a impact and their wheels look like new, and hold air.  This obviously is a material or a manufacturing defect. I understand that there is a one year warranty on the wheels.  I think this is ridiculous that a 1100 dollar set of wheels would be worthless after two year of riding.

Thanks for your time,

Shawn"

What would you do at this point?

Yeah, thats some BS. you can see where each one is starting to pull out.. I can't believe that they'd lte something like that slide....

If it was one I could see... just a fluke, but all of them. that's a defect.

This is a common problem on Hiper wheels. The trick to preventing it is using some anitseize on the threads of the ring bolts.

Its been 11 days since I first sent that E-mail. If you can't get back to a customer within 11 days you should not be conducting business.

Hey shaun, thats BS keep us posted on this as i have the same hiper wheels as you and i pulled one of mine silghtly about 8 months ago.It was my own fault on this occasion as i didnt torque them  .I was going to buy half a wheel but its been fine since.if i remember right i posted pictures up on here and you replied.
What i done to get the thread down, mind you mine wasent pulled as much as yours, was to heat the thread with a solidering iron and then tap it down with a piece of wood and hammer. It worked for me.Worth a try if you get no joy from Hiper

Finally got ahold of someone at Hiper ( the VP ) and long story short, they are helping me out. It was one of those situation where I was all ready to come in with both guns blazing, but there was no need. He was VERY helpful and understanding. It took a little while to get him to understand my point, but in the end both ends are happy.

Thanks Hiper!

Yeah whats the conclusion? As much as I like the hipers, OMF is extremely comparable. Super light weight and durable.
