ive had that happen with 22 shells but never anything bigger. i love it when i take a chick to the range, i always warn them to not wear anything lowcut, they never listen. so quite often i get to see a chick jumping up and down rifling through her bra trying to get out hot brass. always makes me feel evil when i laugh at them. but its a good show

I think I'm takin my boy out to go shooting next weekend.

What do you guys think is a good age for that? I never REALLY got that chance growing up in Cali.

My boy is 8. He seems excited.

Haven't really cared about it for awhile, but I got it out to clean it was thinking of selling it...and he wanted to see it. Forgot how cool it looks lol!!!

Ruger 10-22 stainless steel. Just like this one, but with a scope.

at age 8 i was shooting for two or three years. it all depends on the kid but as long as you are watching him like a safety nazi it will be fine. tell him before hand that you are going to watch everything he does and if he mishandles it yell at him a little, you dont have to ball him out just stern enough so it sticks. my dad worked on us with gun safety from the age of three or four, he would pull one gun out and let us watch him handle it and clean it, then he would let my brother do one then he would let me do one. gun safety is the biggest part. another thing my dad did was to shoot a watermellon with his 12 guage, we loved it and thought it was cool as hell, he then explained again how dangerous guns were by saying if you mishandle them that could be your brothers head. kinda dark but then again it was a very good mental image that has always stuck with me.

my buddy's dad always told the boys growing up "if you ever want to shoot guns, we will shoot... anytime... but NEVER without me"
he said it was awesome... he taught them safety and the importantce of gun ownership and responsibility from a VERY early age

Yeah Guys. same way I am thinking.

looking forward to it.

This sunday when I took the quad riding I took a paintball gun.........
had my 3 year old shoot with it, so he can get an early start

ERMAHGERD he loved it.......kids are smarter with evolution in some ways nowadays.......(didnt mean for it to rhyme)

told him to always watch were he aims the barrel....... dont put in on the ground........use the safety when not shooting......
he's getting a good start.......... I have pics if you want to see.

lol peels...

but like jeff said thats how my dad did it also, then when he felt safe he got us bb guns and pellet rifles to play with(we grew up on a farm so had lots of time and room to shoot safely) then he kept stepping it up. now when both of my brothers come over here we look like the michigan militia, everyone comes in with a gun on their hip and usually a few rifles in cases cause we arent gonna get together without going to the range

yah there are parts of growing up in the city, and some parts of growing up in the country, that I never really got...that I want my boys to experience and/or learn from.

disco

I remember the day I got my Red Rider.  My mom wasn't too pleased with my dad that day.

We (me and friends) used to try to hit the neighbors barn.  You really had to elevate the gun, fire and count to like five before you'd hear a very slight *ding.
mostly stock with a 12t sprocket of fury

we neevr got a red rider, we had crossman 760s i believe they were, they 10 pump bb gun but the coolest pellet rifle i had my uncle got for me out of one of those mobile tool sale places, the 20 dollar chinese pellet rifle, 1 pump and you could kill any tweety bird within 200 yards. i killed soooo many things with that gun all the way up to ground hogs. well one ground hog shot it in the head and knocked it out ran up and stomped it to death lol so i guess the gun was more of a stun gun at that point

Peelz

disco I remember that. when we moved to Iowa, parents bought me a BB gun.

you could actually see the bb as it flew out  then count the seconds til you hear "ting"

i love shooting archery i am pretty good but i shoot instinctively. i shoot with friends and they might beat me when shooting at a target at predetermined ranges but when we go out roving(shooting at weeds in the field with judo tips at random ranges) i absolutely kick ass. i desparately need a new bow though, mine is a 20 year old pse fireflight my dad bought for my mom. its draw length is about 2 inches to short and it only goes up to 55lbs with 45% let off. i want a newer bow that goes to between 80 and 90 lbs. and now that i am not working in the oil fields i might just get a new bow this year cause i will actually be able to hunt this fall
