No it's a heat shield so you don't burn your hand when barrell heats up. It's for urban combat and tight spots. I got a .308 for reaching way out the there! The .223 is about the size of a .500 magnum long barrel

Anybody have any experience or comments on the Beretta PX4 Storm?   ???
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Remmington 700 SPS Tactical .308 with 12x scope and bipod
Springfield  XD45 (Ugly Eddie 21 of 101 Edition)

Want an AR 15 and a smoother handgun. The springfield is more for stopping a guy than target shooting.

Remmington is great apparently you can put a 22" floating barrel on it off of a Remmington Varmint for better long range accuracy and higher long range velocity. Any thoughts?

If you want a long barrelled AR15 just buy it that way.  Lots of manufacturers offer them that way, including Bushmaster, Rock River Arms, and DPMS.  Not that there is anything wrong with the Remington R15 or R25, pretty decent AR's for the money.  But if you want the longer barrel, you might be better off just to start with it, less money wasted on parts you don't really want.

I think he's talking about rebarrelling the 700.  I say go for it.  It's a win-win to me.

For the life of me I can't figure out what this is.  Help me out.  Looks like an AR/AK conglomeration. AR mag, Ak front end, piston?

Got my new lower.  Now I just gotta figure out how to build it. The place had several manufacturers but I bought the cheapest they had.  As long as it's milspec it should be gtg.  I'm thinking (hoping) a raw forging is a raw forging and the machine program is all the same.

I like the way this pic turned out, I shot is on the roof of my car.  Originally shot it with a white background but contrast was too much for the phone.

Ooh, got to see the .50 Beowulf.  Holy smokes, that's a bad   round.  Get a 45 long colt, scale it up and stretch it out then stick a 5.56 rim on it.  Weird looking.  I want one.  I'm sure it's gawd awful expensive to shoot.

Found a pic and some prices:  Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf Ammo 334G FMJ, Flat-Point, 20 Box Price: $23.99 (1950 fps, 2820 ft/lbs).  You can get 400 gr too.

And yeah, the image on your screen is pretty much actual size.
