I made these to ride on the frozen trails. Could also be used for lawn aeration or just picking up trash in the park.

The first rear tire took a couple hours, just because I had to figure out which size drill bit work the best, how to hold the drill while drilling the lugs, how to screw in the bolts ect...
The rest of them took probably around an 1.25 hours or so each.  No they don't leak because I used inner tubes.

Rear:  Kenda Knarly 6ply 20x11x9 ( 22'' might even be better for clearance in the snow)
Front: Kenda Kutter XC 6ply 22x7x10
5/16'' X 2'' 316 stainless steel hex head bolts in the rear tires (free to me)
5/16 x 1.75'' zinc hex bolts in the fronts (because I couldn't afford stainless)
Zinc washers inside and out with nylon locking nuts
Used old enter tubes for a liner to protect inter tube from bolt heads (free at tire shop)( don't use the side walls, wrong curvicher)

I built the rears first and they hook up GREAT!  I built the fronts last week because steering was an issue, but have not had a chance to try them out yet due to massive amounts of snow we got this week

I'll post an update when I get the chance to try the the whole set up together.

I would like to find a stud sharpener and put a point on the bolts

Iowa...where at mano? I was out on the snowy roads this morning. Took the wife's prairie uptown to get us some breakfast.. Then took the rappy out for some fun. Good times. 5 inches of powder

Any reason to think those might fling off while riding? Could be lethal for anyone behind you.

As long as you lock tite those nuts on there, I think they should be fine.

Sorry guys, I have been sick and plowing snow

I ride out at my buddy's house in Underwood, Iowa's gravel roads a few trails.

There is a very slim  chance any of the bolts will fly out due to the big washers on the inside & nylon locking nuts.

How well do they work you ask?

The front tires get perfect traction .

The rear tires I was a little disappointed, I thought they would have so much traction that I could bring the front end off the ground at will. I was riding on basically pure Ice. I was surprised how much they would spin. I think sharpening the bolts could make all the difference in the world
ANY IDEA'S ON WAYS TO SHARPEN WOULD BE GREAT   lets see, angle grinder, reverse cone grinder, snowmobile stud sharpener

sharpen/shorten them a little. THey are really long, the tire slips between studs.

Yea, I thought they may be to long but figured after sharpening them a couple times maybe I would get more life out of them.
I will order a stud sharpener and I'll get them sharpened and post some pics
