We bought a Siberian Husky last year for Christmas. I was against getting a dog but the family wanted one really bad sooooo I gave in. We named him Bishop. For some reason this goofy ass dog has be come my dog. Don't know why I like him so much, but I do. He's barely a year old now and can do about a half dozen commands, (thanks to the wife). I can't believe how smart he actually is. Anyhow, what kind of dog do you have?

we have always owned shelties. Very smart and loyal animals. But the last two dogs were a mini doberman, and a mini dachsund. I will never own a dog again. Unless it stays outside. Some of you already know why.

Might have had to do with the fact I have very little free time anymore, but I am over the dog thing.

Long story semi short.

I grew up in appartments and have ALWAYS loved and wanted a dog of my own, but never could. When I was 18 my father re-married and him and his wife built a new house. FINALLY I had my opertunity to have my own dog. I went out to dinner with my mother for my birthday and went across the street to a pet store just to fondle all the pets. I took one look at this dog and I knew I had to have her! I have a thing for picking good pets, and I knew this dog is THE DOG! Got her when she 6 weeks old. She cryed the whole way home :( she missed her brother :(

She's now 7 years old and I cant imagine life with out her. She is the most amazing dog. At 6 months old she knew sit, lay down, stay, roll over, shake, beg, play dead, the whole nine yards. She goes everywhere with me now. Peals got to meat her at Genoa last year. I take her camping, to the store, EVERYWHERE! She is with out a doubt the best dog I've ever known. She protects me and my wife when strangers come around. I cant even raise a fist at Crystal with out her giving me the evil eye. I swear she knows english. She follows me everywhere and I can just talk to her and she does exactly what I ask her. Go upstairs, she goes upstairs. Want to go out side, and she goes outside. I never use a leash with her when walking her. When ever someone passes I just say Jessey, side, and she runs up to me and sits at my side until I say OK. Anything I say she understands!

Since she was a pup I'd take her to my buddys cabin and go swimming. I could go out in a paddle boat and do laps around the lake and she just swims and swims. At night we'd have people over for a ban fire. I never had to leash her or worry where shes at. She always sticks around and socializes with everyone. I never once have to worry where shes at.

She is a Austrailian Cattle Dog AKA Red Healer. Once I was out riding near a cattle field and come cows were out of the fence and the farmer was trying to get them back in. I said Jessey, get'em up. She ran right towards the cows and hurded them into a group and I was by the gate waving them in and Jessey would run and nip at their feet to get them to move. When she got to close/aggresive I'd yell "Ehh!" and she'd back down. She got them all back into the gate in no time flat! I was totally amazed. She has never been around cattle before.

I try to take her out the field and run her as often as possible to keep her in shape. You can not run her down. She just keeps going and going! She is a fetching machine! She'll jump off a dock at full tilt to go get the ball. Last time I took her out running she did as she always does (run like a mad women for hours). She seemed fine until I got her home. She just crashed! Did'nt want to get up. You could tell her joints were hurting her. This just KILLED ME!!! This was the first time this happened. I had to lift her up into bed that night and she yelped in pain. That absoulutely killed me. Up until then she just seemed immortal to me and nothing could hurt her. This really hit home for me that some day I will be with out her. Just the very thought of that makes me tear up. She means the world to me and everyone she meets.

I love this dog to no end!

Heres Jessey at 6 months.

Going for a ride. Just the way she looks at you it seems she understands.

Going for a swim at the river.

Enjoying her stick.

Climbing trees.

Left side is Sierra, Australia Shepard/Border Collie mix, got her from a buddy when his dog knocked up his neighbors dog.  Had her since she was six weeks, she's going to be 13 yrs. old in February.  Like preddy, I can't imagine my life without her.  She's been with me longer than my wife.  Right side is Rambo, he is her son from an unplanned pregnancy.  Daddy was a Rottweiler/Black Lab mix and he was huge, must have been 150lbs.  He was the only male in the litter and I figured he'd get big like daddy, but he stayed mid-sized.  Easier to feed that way I guess.  He'll be 12 in June.

No dogs allowed in the apartment :(

They are testing in our sister apartment w/ allowing dogs. I'm hoping it goes well. I would really like one. Will stick to a small dog due to apartment, but once I have my own place I'm set on a boxer.
