Trail and dune swingarm length

I do not own one, I only got to ride a few. HOnestly, I liked how Shawn's bike rode the most. Stocker. Low 70's hp? Barkers bike was fast, and so was Gunner'z.  Just didn't feel right. Took away some handling IMO. But, there again. I rarely drag race, so my opinion is different than yours. Voting +4 since it is the smallest. I don't really care for the look of the really extended swingers, either.

I think both those bikes were +4.

Keep it stock! or maybe a +2. I really did'nt like how my +2 handled, and it did'nt do much to keep the front end down. Yamaha put that length swingarm on for a reason.

I love my +2

Can CERTAINLY tell that it's there when revving/letting out the clutch. Front end doesn't come up AS easy. But still very do-able.

Well, since I've personally road Aarons bike aaaaaand Im a tight woods trail rider, I would definitely go with a +4 from the choices above and since I know you like to wheelie alot, maybe +3 would be better for you. I know mine stands straight up with a +4 in 4th gear. Don't even think of going bigger then a +4, your a trail guy not a duner. I was super leary of going anything bigger then a +2, but I ended up going +4. I couldn't be happier. I love how she can hug the trails in 3rd pinned and 4th gear and let me have total control, no way in hell could I ever wot her out of a hair pin with a stocker.  Get a +3 or 4 you'll be happy.

shawn, I'll probably keep the stocker for trails/ then swap a complete swinger, shock, axle, bearings, hubs set up for sand.  Buit you know walden.  Sand trails and tree shoots get tight quick.

I have a +4 and I am a trail guy too. I am very happy with the way it handles and everything about it except for the chain. My vote is a +3 because you will have the carrier rotated almost all the way to the front and plenty of room for adjustment. As for mine I am almost full carrier back with little adjustment left if the chain were to stretch any more. Also helped Gunnie put on his new chain on his +4 and his carrier is also almost all the way to the back. Maybe others can chime in to about chain fit and available adjustment left in the carrier.

Aaron, no-way would it be worth swapping out a stocker and +4 anytime for riding conditions. I can almost guarantee, when you go +3 or 4 you will leave it alone and be happy. Do you plan on going wider? I love stability and total control, but I run hard through the trails. I know my bike is heavy, but you need some time on it in the trails. I promise you Aaron can rock mine twice the speed through the trails then you can on yours. Now if you wanna do swaps, then rock a +6 or +8.

Are you saying to use the chaing w/ both swingers?

If so. It's not possible. even going from +2 back to stock the chain is wayyy to long and cant adjust tight enough for the +2 chain on the stock swinger (need 2 chains)


If yours is getting to long natural. Pick up a chain breaker (cost $20 max) from dennis kirk or another shop and cut her down.

I've got a +4 with a reworked shock on mine. It definately helps in keeping the front down when duning or hill shooting and I like it for that. On the trail I find it makes the rear a lot more skitery (is that a word). I have Razr2 @ 4psi and still with the stk 14T, 57hp/47t. It just seems to constantly be blowing the tires off, little to no traction. I'm going to do the 15T and see again. I have a complete stock set-up and will probably go that way when rid'in trails. It's nice to be able to loft the f/e with a little blip when ever it's needed.
Maybe a +2 would be the answer.

Not talking about changing swingers or chains. Just referring to the chain adjustment. My brand new chain on my +4 was almost all the way back and after my chain stretched I was worried that I was going to run out of adjustment.
