727 Bored vs 727 Stroked..?

My 2 cents:
Same arguement went on about comparing a 377 bigbore SBC against a 383 stroker SBC. The 377 and 383 was tested with identical heads, cam, compression and almost identical R/S ratios.......
The 377 made slightly more HP and the 383 made slightly more torque.
Since these 700s work so simular to these engines I would expect the same outcome but......
The thing about a stroker is alot of times you have a lower R/S ratio and the peak piston speed always increases- cam profiles will require changing compared to an identical sized engine with more R/S ratio and slower peak piston speed. The problem with this is the 700s havent been R/D'ed enough to find the #s that work with alot of different combinations of bore/stroke/rod length. The SBC has been around 10 times longer and has been produced millions more and has been tweaked to no end.

thats a funny story...... them damn peeps with their 734's lol

Today I had a bike come in  2006 700R, Nmotion full exhaust, dobeck, home made intake, Dynatek programmable, Hotcams stage 2...... and a TRINITY 108MM BIG BORE KIT...THAT WAS IT!!!  way overkill on the bore without any decent supporting mods!

it made a whole 54 hp and 47 tq ..... this build had cost him 2k at a well know shop here in Ca.
His bike will be on its way to some true HP shortly!!!

This guy should be pissed at whoever sold him this combination!  What a waste of money on the 108 kit with a stock head and TB.  I guess on the plus side, he has a good foundation to build on to.

yeah it will be amazing what a head anc decent cam will do to it.... thats one huge piston  :jaw:

The Trinity build we did was not impressive to start with either for all the goodies already on it, but it turned out to be a very strong base to put some good stuff on and the end result with a little tuning was 17 horsepower up.

Havent been on here in a while.   I like this thread.  It is an endless arguement.   Here is my 2 cents for stuff thats made my customers happy.

If you have a large budget, and are going to build a stock bore stock stroke (with long Rod) than it will be fast.  NOTE: not for Sumo riders:)

If you have a large budget and are goning to build a big bore, stroker it will be fast.  Good for average weight riders and recreational riders that don't like changing tires and gears all the time.  Broad power and tons of torque.    Good for the not so good rider as well.

Keeping a stock crank in with high compression and not balancing it for a big bore, and not replacing a stock crank that might have a ton of time on it and doing up the top end big and head big... is a forumla for crank failure.

If your a every weekend type rider and are over 200lbs  I suggest crank or stroker everytime.  Stroker with stock bore or nothing over 105.5.

If your a racer and have a small budget then a big bore is cheaper.  ( you get what you pay for)

If your a racer that has a larger budget and not an engine builder and you don't weight 125lbs then forget the stock bore stock stroke.
And if you don't have an override tranny and close gear ratio to keep it in the power band then it is not a good build for most riders.

If your a weekend warrior and love to sit at the bottom of the hill and shoot the sh@# and like to have an engine that smokes your buddy and is proven reliable, then 797 or our 804 at 85hp is the perfect bet everytime.      If you get beat, you put your kid on it and brag how fast your bike is:)   And you can always just add Nos if someone talks smack.  If you feel the need to go nuts you can call explosive racing and order an 804 turbo kit like the one we ran at four stroke wars and you can just worry about who has the balls to ride it:)

804's rule for the average Joe,
