But there is one down side, no tach.  That kinda bugs me.

And who knows why they didn't go efi.  But even with carbs they are still the fastest 450 out there.

True.

I guess it's the theory of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

And I'm sure the carb maker has some "money" into them.

I really dont understand the big fuss about the FI. If you have ever rode a WELL tuned FCR carb and then step on a raptor there really is not that much difference between the two.

But hell, that just my humble opinion.
Just a little 81hp trail bike.

Carbs are ok (I still like min just fine) but,
I think we're all just rooting for yamaha to keep up with the other manufacturers.

I really only like FI for the "plug and play" factor. No warming up, removing plastic rejetting, etc.

Plus comparing raptors efi to a well tuned carb on a 450 is apples and oranges.  I would like to see a well tuned carb 450 and then try the same but with efi.

I would almost bet they are working on that already. Probably not enough gain to warrant the extra dough it would cost to produce.

I went with my buddy to the stealership last week and we were discussing our disappointment in regards to the 09 YFZ450.  The dealer said that the rumours about a 500cc four stroke twin banshee are true, and that yamaha is trying to tame the motor because its too much for a quad right now (He said it's pushing 100hp).  He said he got his info from Yamaha itself, but I think the guy is just a  :jerkoff:

Agreed, and yamaha would be law suit central if they were to ever release a super high HP quad like that.
