SLC Swingarm / Powder Coating Issue
« on: June 10, 2009, 09:52:03 AM »
Just wanted everyone to know, I just got around this past weekend to putting on my SLC +2 Ladder Swinger (Thank you all again who chipped in for this!!!!!) I ran into 2 issues (not SLC or Paul (powder coaters) fault) Also erich (socal) ran into the same ones.

1. there's the nub that is on the right side looking from the back of the quad. Where the brake caliper mount slides on. the nub wouldn't fit on. I ended up having to take a pair of pliers and grinding off all the powder coating to make the nub have a nice fit.

2. When I put the bearing carrier and the brake caliper mount on. There's a big snap ring that goes on the right side of the carrier to hold the caliper mount in place. it rests in a slot on the side, well... mine woulnd't fit into the slot. If I was to guess. It was about 1/32" off. I ended up having to take a razor blade and scraping off the powder coating on the outside edge of the swingarm so the snap ring would seat correctly.

Just a heads up if anyone runs into these issues

My powder coated taped off these area and install was a breeze. He is a Ex-Atv guy, so he knows the ropes.

I didnt' have to do it for the t-flub, but that's the only other AM Swinger I've ever run/owned.

I was lucky, it was a tight fit but I didn't have to grind down the side of the carrier housing.
