Houser/Motowoz front... Lonestar/Wiig rear

When I did the motor I figured I'd go with a suspension too. I put on some +.5 Houser LT arms, Dura Blue + 1.5 spacers, and triple rate Motowoz set at my weight up front. I also put on a +4 Lonestar swinger and a Axcalibar MX axle set at +4 . I sent my rear shock off to Wiig and had Josh revalve/rebuild it to my riding and weight. Anyhow I put about 7 hours on it at Little Sahara today. Let me start off by saying (after learning how to adjust my shocks) I was happy with my stock SE shocks and had always kinda figured that spending thousands of dollars on aftermarket suspension was a huge waste of money. I WAS WRONG. I don't have them quite dialed in yet, but holy s**t the new setup is BADASS. I was hitting the whoops WOT, my buddies said that when I was going across them the tires were bouncing all over the place, but my bike was staying level. It felt like a Cadillac going across them. I had know idea that was even possible. Jumping was a HUGE improvement. I landed all jacked up a few times... bad enough I would have got wasted on my OEM setup ..... and they soaked it up like I was on a cloud. The landings were so soft that I would jump further and further every time. When I would land you could hear the shocks make a swish sound. I did bottom out a few times, but nothing bad. The trails were not aaaaas noticeable as the whoops and jumping, but it was still a huge improvement. I do need to get used to being 4" wider and 4" longer, but that'll come in time. If I had to change anything, it would be the swinger... I would have rather it had been a +2 or 3, but I can't complain to much cause it did keep the front planted. This was all on sand. I will give another report in a few weeks when I hit woods trails.

If asked why I didn't just go a +2 in the first place with the Housers and only went + 1 and +3 spacers.... Well when I hit the trails and want to narrow it up, I can simple by taking off the spacers and adjusting the rear axle.

Any questions.... fire away.

I have been converted. I will never ride a OEM suspension on one of my bikes ever again.

Thanks due to TimelessR1 for the great buy on the Housers/Motowoz. TechQuadSop for the great deal on the Axcalibar MX axle. Josh at Wiig Style Racing for the rebuild.  Maskin for the great deal on the Lonestar swinger.

Glad you like it.

Suspension is the FIRST place I put money in a new bike!

Fun as hell hitting those woops WOT and watching your tires "flop" all over the place.
Just a little 81hp trail bike.

All new suspension set up, NOW coming Spring 2010. Just when I thought all my heavy spending was done  :'(

I believe the first mod I would ever do again would be a steering stabilizer. No contest. One of thee best mods I've done. I was playing w/ my suspension 2 weekends ago working on getting it dialed in. got it near close. was hitting holes/bumps and riding over them like nothing! :)

I have a GPR4 w/ remote which is nice. During the GNCC I was adjusting on the fly based on the area I was in trying to get it dialed in for conditions. The control mounts on the handlebars. Another heavy favorite is the Precision Steering Stabilizer. Both about the same price. But really depends on how much difficulty adjusting it you want. Precision also has a great video to watch and see exactly how the stabilizer works.

I always buy the 6 or 7 way adjustable stick ones for like $100. They do the exact same thing the puck style ones do for a fraction of the price. As far as what brand to buy on the stick styles, it doesn't matter. They are all made in the same factory in China, with different stickers on them. Make sure to get the rebuildable one and adjustable.

I started off with a stick style and sold it after two rides, then got the CCP, then the Pricision.

My next bike will have the Pricision

Shawn, could you tell a difference between the ccp and the precision?

I think I could. I know its not just my wallet trying to justify the purchase, because I paid the same amount for my CCP as I did my Precision. Not sayin the CCP is bad by ANY mean, for the price its a hella deal. I honestly would never pay retail for a precision.

The fit and finish of the Precision seems to be a bit better to. Precision also has a set screw on the stem mount.

all new CCP's have the set screw I believe.

I love my precision. going from my rappy to my bro's 400ex in the woods, it's most deffinatly noticable.

Hey gunz
What is your width for sand?
What is your width when narrowed up for trails?

Gunz

Sand 52 up front, 50 rear.
Trails 47 up front, 47 rear.

I run a +1 offset douglas with Mohawks on sand, so that gives me another 1+2 for a total of +3 on each side.
My Housers are +.5 and my rear axle is adjustable from +1-+4. On trails I take the front spacers off and narrow down the rear.

Dang that's wide in the sand  ::) How's bumpsteer?
When I invest in +2 A arms I think I'll buy some 4/1 offset rims so overall i'm only +2 wider for the trails. Already have 3/2 rims for different occassions/tires. The money pit continues.....
