Problem with RPM readout on Trailtech Vapor. Any ideas?

I have a used Trailtech Vapor that I have had installed for some time. I am just now getting around to hooking everything up. I have the temp probe in the coolant line and that works fine.

I have the pickup wire wrapped around the plug wire and also plugged in to the trailtech unit.

My problem is, at idle it shows correct at about 1500rpm BUT...when it goes anything over that it shows "0". Sometimes right near red line it will flash some RPM but its pretty high (about 8k rpm) and shows up as like 3-4k rpm on the trail tech.

One thing I know is that I wrapped the pickup wire almost 20 times due to having so much extra length. It says to be wrapped 10 times...could this play any problem? I would assume not as I did not change the length of the pickup wire, just wrap it around extra times. If it does need to be 10 times, what do you guys do with the extra wire? Just bundle it with electrical tape/zip ties?

Could it be a bad power source/ground? This is what im thinking is the mostly likely culprit.

I also still have to put the magnet on and run the pickup sensor for the MPH readout. I have a GPS that I usually check rpm on so I may not hook that up.

What else do you guys have hooked up on your trailtech? I know there are some optional plug ins and accessories but not sure what else to get or hook up.

Thanks!

Unwrap it and solder it to the orange wire on the coil...Then put your setting on the unit a 0.5..That should take care of it...Also make sure you are using the wire with the small resistor near the connector.

I just cut off a little bit of the end of the wire and stuffed it between the coil and the spade connector...Works perfect and no issues.
