Any one have a Wii? Have you heard of the soft mod?

Basically what iit does it let you play burned games and dvd's and lets you get free games to download and run emulators.... It's kind of a pain in the butt, but once you figure it out it's pretty cool. I haven't got it down 100% yet.  Still trying to figure out how to add the roms for the emulators., and trying to figure out how to burn downloaded games from torrent sites and play them on my wii.

You need  a copy of Zelda, twilight princess, an SD card and to download a few files, add a new channel on your wii called "homeBrew" , in it is "homebrew Browser" and you'll find a DVIX installer, emulators for nes, snes, sega, neo geo, etc... and the homebrew browser lets you down load free games, applications, emulators, and a bunch of other stuff... Like 1 thing I downloaded is Wii Level, the screen has a level on it, and you put your remoted on what you want to check, or junk like a strobe light. Once I can figure out the burning downloaded games I'll never have to buy a game again for the wii! pretty cool, and this way you don't have to open it up and ad a chip..the legend of zelda was pretty fun 2! lol

I might have to give it a try.

when you are on your wii, your browser page should have a version # in it, mine is 3.4.
3.3 and 3.4 have different files for the browser I think... if you need help I can try to assit. ..... I know it took me about 2 days to figure it out lol, ... I have all the stuff saved on my SD card, is there a way to send those specific files to soemone? Then you'd have it all at once, cuz you need to download a few differnt things, and I found them on different sites...

If you put them all into a *.zip folder you can e-mail all of them.

I have ultimate zip, but I think it's just a trial, i'll see if I can figure it out, then I can just send him them, that'd be way easier...then he just copys them to his SD card, puts it in the WII and installs the stuff....

The reason you need Zeld is because the files you download can be run through zelda... I know I was like WTF?

Rent/ buy zelda, play it at least once to create a save file on your Wii, if you have a long saved game, I'd suggest backing it up and then delteing a copy, because you'll loose your progress...

Then you put your SD card in with the downloaded files, then open up zelda and start playing, it will go to a new saved game called "TWILIGHT HACK"  and when you start the game, just walk backwords and the install of the homebrew channell starts, some games have things that nerds figure out how to use against it's self, lol, on PSP there is a surfer game that lets you access a internet browser. anyways.
Then it will install homebrew channel and the homebrew browser.... Kinda hard to explain, took me a while to get it...

youtube it

yeah, youtube will give a nice demo, but it took me way more than youtube to figure it out, lol.

Try the homebrew channel web site, and wiki both give pretty good info, here are a few links

What's supposed to happen is..

a Memory overload. (was a big computer hack a couple years ago) causes the computer (or Wii) to crash sort of.. In which it's completely vulnerable. And this is when the homebrew app installs itself.

(in a nutshell)  ;)
