The Wilburn Ruffcorn Farm

Central IL. It`s private property that is owned by a man named Wilbur Ruffcorn, but it is open to the public 365 days a year. Most privately owned places shut down to ATVs when hunting season comes in. Mr. Ruffcorn doesn`t. There is approximately 400-500 acres of riding area intermixed among his fields. There are lots of hills to climb, plenty of mud to play in, a nice big rock bottom creek to splash around in, and even a little sand to roost. Not sure how many miles of trails because it is spread out over such a big area. It`s a lot of fun though, and a great place to spend a day riding. The charge is $10.00 per person, although he has been known to give "special" family rates. He has discounted rates for 2 day (primitive) camping also, usually $15.00.
The place is located about 2 miles south of Loraine, IL. From Hwy. 61, turn South on County Road 1500. Follow it about a mile, where it will turn to the East. Another 1/4 mile to the first house on the right. There should be a small sign by the driveway. Pull in and stop at the house.

Crooked Creek OHV Riding Area

1 Mile West of Winchester, Illinois on IL RT. 106
217-473-3002 (cellular)
We offer 150 acres of woods and rolling grassland for your riding enjoyment!
Everyone is welcome, but those 16 and under must be accompanied
and supervised by a parent or guardian.

www.crookedcreek4.com

Crooked Creek is just 2 miles west of Winchester, Illinois, on Rt 106, then 6 miles south on the Hillview blacktop. Winchester is north of St. Louis, east of Quincy, west of Springfield, and a long way south of Chicago (but worth the drive!).

Crooked Creek is a family-oriented OHV Riding Club that is open to everyone that wants to come and have a good time and who is willing to follow our rules. You know, like the rules the insurance company wants us to follow? The first time you come, you fill out our club ledger and sign the waiver and get a membership card. From then on, you just show the card and sign the waiver.

We will close the track for your safety on the two weekends of shotgun deer season. Those are the only scheduled closures for the year.

Crooked Creek is open 7 days a week from 8am until dusk or 7pm, whichever comes first. There are usually a bunch of folks around on weekends, but if you would like to ride during the week, just call us and we'll open the gate. We're usually only a minute away. Phone numbers are 217-473-3002 (cellular) or 217-742-3415.

Crooked Creek charges $10 a day per machine, but we're flexible. If you have several machines you want to try out, just let us know. If you just get started and your machine breaks down, we'll try to help you fix it. If that doesn't work, we can work out a partial refund or a free pass for next time. We've been there ourselves! We give a $2 discount for groups of riders (5 and more), and for people who just can't stay away! That's our favorite kind of people!
If you would like to camp, or cook out, that's fine by us. We don't offer much in the way of luxuries yet, but there _is_ an Uncle Bubba's Outhouse, and a Pepsi machine.... and there are restaurants, service stations and a grocery store in Winchester, just a few miles up the road.

OK - here's what we (and our partner, the insurance company) want you to do.
The rules are to keep you safe and in one piece and us happy.
1 - Waivers must be signed before any machines are unloaded
2 - Protective gear (helmets, goggles, protective clothing & heavy shoes) must be worn at all times while operating OHVs
3 - No doubles on any machine unless machine is manufactured for multiple riders
4 - No firearms or other weapons, alcohol or drugs allowed on premises
5 - No wheelies or spinning of tires in the parking area - first gear only
6 - No night riding - all machines will be parked by dusk
7 - All machines must be in good mechanical condition, with properly operating steering, brakes, mufflers and spark arrestors. Management reserves the right to approve or disapprove any vehicles
8 - No draining of any fluids onto the ground from any machine allowed
9 - No littering, no food, beverages, coolers or smoking outside of the parking and picnic areas
10 - Riding allowed only in designated areas within the perimeter-fenced boundary set forth by management - no trespassing onto adjoining property

12 - No person under age 16 may operate an OHV with an engine size exceeding 90cc displacement and no person under age 12 may operate an ATV with an engine size exceeding 70cc displacement and then only under parent or legal guardian supervision - Ultimately, parents are the ones responsible for making sure that their children are using machines that fit them!
13 - Self rescue - no towing available
14 - Obey all Danger and Caution signs - these are for your own safety
15 - No trucks or automobiles
See Bulletin Boards for additional information and emergency procedures and numbers
