These are for 5/16 fiberglass flags such as Rip Rods. One mounted to the bike, you can get your flag off and on without any tools. So if your out in the dunes and you break your flag, you can slid it right back in there in minutes. There aren't loose parts, springs or anything else to wear out or loose, just the billit holder.
