what do you have and how do you like it?

i'm thinking about getting a proarmor swingarm skid plate. but i don't know if there are any brands better or equal to in quality for cheaper, because pro armor is really proud of there stuff.

I personally will never run a swinger skid again. All they do is lower your GC and you get hung up on everything. Unless its really rocky I would just get one of the "sprocket protectors" that GT thunder makes.
Just a little 81hp trail bike.

I had a pro armor and trashed it in the rocky stuff. I have a PRM in .250 thick and they seem to be much tougher.

I prefer stock for clearance reasons

I couldn't tell you what exactly mine is but for rock crawling it saves my sprocket and disc. I love my full skids.

I was going to ask how everyone feels about the swingarm skid myself. I took my stockers off and there is quite a difference between the belly and swingarm skid. The belly skid is pretty much junk. It is very weak and flimsy. On the other hand it seems to me that the swingarm skid is much better built. I can get smaller pieces of alminum at work so was thinking of making my own but now I am really not sure it would be worth the time.

i have an aluminum skid under the motor and A-arm guards. just not a fan of the rear swingarm skid, after watching my buddy dig a drainage ditch every where he goes.

the swinger guards definitly kill clearance, when me and devan rode some guy with a 400ex had one and we all went through this creek no problem but he got stuck a couple times cas of it

1badazz_700r

yep thats the guy digging the ditch too, also becareful if you get one and its really dry outside. Cause one of the sparks from hitting the rocks might start a fire

I have GYTR and like the engine skid, its real strong. I have the GYTR swing arm skid too, and its good but i have beet it up pretty good over rocks and stuff. Then i just bend it back.

Depends on where you ride. We ride in Baja and without skids you would destroy your chain, sprocket and brake disk. My son did ruin the brake disk on his new 700 before he got new skids. We use Pro Armor and find them to do the job. We also run 22" rear tires and 23" fronts which helps with clearance

Warren

how much clearance would i actually loose with the pro armor skid?

every bit of 1-2 inches! If you live in a rocky area, then yes I would run skids, but if not I would'nt bother.

I just went and measured mine. From the bottom of the chain 3/4" from the bottom of the brake disk 3/4"total including the thickness of the skid .Those are the two items that WILL get damaged hitting rocks at speed with out skids.

Headrope

Personally I think if you're unable to ride a stock height Raptor with skidplates somewhere you should be on a utility quad instead (unless doing baja). But that's just me.

I run full GYT-R skids on The Twins (engine/frame, a-arm and swingarm). The swingarm skid is crazy thick and does affect clearance but I'm still able to ride just about anywhere. It took a some getting used to but learning to ride with less ground clearance made me a better technical rider.

If additional clearance is needed after putting skidplates on you can always go with taller tires. They will make up for the swingarm skid and then some.
