In a thread about "4x4 raptor" I mentioned that I'd love to have an IRS raptor. Here ------>http://www.raptorsource.com/forum/index.php?topic=2728.0. BUT....Today I got the new ATVsport mag in the mail and on the cover is a IRS Raptor. They did a test on IRS raptor and IRS 450r. The kit is a Sonic and it is priced waaay up there. Just thought I'd pass it on. I still want an IRS Raptor. I haven't read the artical yet, but it looks like they're doing a shoot out between the Honda 700 and an IRS Raptor. Here's a pic.

doesnt look like much ground clearence ???

cool idea though, i dig it

Thats a bad pic. It's compressed, the rider is either landing a jump or riding a wheelie I can't tell.

I'm not a fan of IRS on sport quads. IRS does ride much better, and if you were a die hard trail rider it may not be a bad idea.

How much heavier is it?

I saw it before with a turbo rappy.  ::) However, performance does not justify cost.  IMO

+1 on the trail thing...but I have little to no trouble keeping up with Utilities as it is. Be ready to wheelie at a moment's notice. Ruts and logs and stuff.

Kudos to the guys who are fabricating it.

Search it on youtube as well. Yakahosu turbo raptor?

Only problem I have with IRS is off angle landings. Solid axles soak it up and straighten you out. IRS Will rock you back and forth a little before settling. A lot of fine tuning would probably alleviate that though.

I love IRS because it soaks up weird landings... Not to mention you can approach a jump any way you please with an IRS quad. With a solid axle you have to get all your ducks lined up in a roll to make sure you don't pitch sideways in the air.   :D

I like straight axle the best though.

I will agree with that.  I messed one up at the dunes, not easy getting it back, or trying to stay on when you land.

I like the way an IRS lands a jump. Straight axle jerks when you land one wheel first, an IRS soaks it up. Huh, I just realized I typed in exactly the opposite of what you said. I've rode a 525irs for the weekend out at Lil Sahara and that baby was comfortable as far as suspension goes. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade my 700 for an 525IRS any day, but I would like to have an 700IRS as a second bike for those long weekends.

4gunz: I only got to ride one once, maybe it was a tuning thing, IDK. It felt like it jerked side to side if landing at an angle. And I don't like how they slide in a corner. Something you could get used to though. Comfortable ride regardless. If Yamaha builds it affordably, and without sacrificing performance, I would buy it asap.

It does take a lil while to get used to, after a day you forget all about it. You simply adjust to it. I doubt Yamaha will ever make one, but who knows  :dunno: polaris has been taking trophies home for over a year now.

Tire is the main thing holding back in stock trim. I switched to regular Razr 6 plys and it corners a ton better. The Razr Rs that come on it are garbage they role in corners
