This cast has done well with politics and current events in my opinion.

I think they need to come up w/ some good skits though. Politics and current events is an easy cop out IMO..

like. Matt Foley, Waynes World, Night At the Roxburry Skits.. Classics and ones they could play off of in multiple episodes!

They need talent for that, and IMO they don't have it.  Tina faye a Tracy Morgan made the politcal stuff worth watching, and they did that just to promote 30 rock.

There is a definite need for new characters......Loved all the ones you mentioned Randy. By far some of my favorites.

I think they have the talent. I think the writers are lacking. Seth Meyers and Amy Poeler do an awesome job w/ weekend update. Kenan Thompson is funny as shit w/ his political stuff "FIX IT!" Andy Samberg does an awesome job w/ his digital shorts. Like his rasta rap.

And they have one new guy this year Bobby Monihan or somethin like that...
I can't find the one from saturday. But I was dying laughing.
