So i just got this used quad yesterday and now noticed it has a code 15 TPS problem. Open or closed circuit, i have no idea what that means and am looking how to fix it.

Thanks,
Will

Welcome to the site....

TPS is throttle position sensor? We are talking about a Raptor correct, what year?

I'll do some checking. But I have a manual online available to look through for the time being:

Alrighty... TPS is on the side of the Throttle body, If you have a PCIII or even if you dont.. I'd recommend that you check the wiring ont he top. maybe tap it a few times w/ a blunt object and try it again.

If that doesn't work... do you by chance have anyone w/ a raptor that lives near by? Might be woth trying a different working TPS to see if yours is bad. I know I've heard about a few people that have had them go bad on theirs.

You have probably lost a wire to the TPS. Or you have a shorted wire. Reseat the connections. Not sure if errors clear right away... Probably have to disconnect battery?

+1 on Krandall's advice.

do you have a PCIII installed?  If so there is a TPS Reset option you might try.

I'm new to yamaha, what is a PCIII  may i ask? Where would i locate it if i had one.

Krandall

A PCIII is an Aftermarket Fuel Controller. So I'm guessing you don't have one  ;)

The TPS is on the right side of the quad (when sitting on it) its right on the throttle body it's a black plastic thing on the end.

It runs fine, so could i possibly ride it tomorrow for a couple hrs? Or is the throttle going to get stuck open and me head into a tree? :P

Krandall

Naw you'll be fine. It just might not run as good as it would.
