I have an honest question.  If Obama is out to help the "little guy" then why do most CEO's back him (per AP)?

As of August, top CEOs gave 10 times more to McCain than to Obama.

They had the opposite facts.  But that isn't shocking with today's media.

I know lydia is still on the fence who she's voting for. I just don't see how McCain or anyone can call Obama a socialist.
He's against spreading the wealth. He believes in wealth creation (As do I) but he votes on the 700 billion dollar bailout which is used to nationalize banks across america? How isn't that socialism?

This is the way I see it.... When Republicans do it, it's helping Americans. When Democrats do it, you're a socialist.  :help:

I think the socialist comments come from his views on healthcare (which he's changed) and being pro big government.  Both of those are more of a socialist style.

This country Tries to keep a seperation between Church and State for good reason.

how bout we do the same here before we really start letting emotions fly  ;)

The founding fathers added this to the Bill of Rights to protect those who worshiped GERD, not the non-believers, Muslims, Satanists, etc..

In my opinion, we have too many people that vote because of a candidates position on a certain issue, rather than what's best for our country. Sometimes we do need to seperate church and state and ask ourselves "What is best for our country."

~Brian

IMO the seperation of church and state equalizes all the people, regardless of your choice of religon, or lack there of.

Well I guess if Jesus were here he would be pushing for a hand up and not a hand out like the bible teaches, not a "bleeding heart liberal".  And there would be a few other issues he would want to talk to the democratic party about.  Not saying the republican party is perfect by any means.

I agree. Perfection is impossible. My problem is that the republicans tout him as the main driving force behind their structure. Not because of what he was about, just the fact that they believe in him. I was never taught the bible, I just read it. I remember reading that he would spite the wealthy for not helping while thousand suffer. Church people said I asked too many questions and told me to go away.

I do not believe in handouts for anyone. It just bothers me that The rich get richer, poor get poorer philosophy remains today......the pay ratio on average in our country from ceo to employee has gone up tenfold. That is a problem.

I agree colorado

OK lunch time

Peels, I'm sorry that a "church" turned you away.  You could ask me all the questions you want and if I don't have the answer (a lot of the time) I can get it for you.

And I agree the rich get richer and the poor get poorer but we need to stop with just the blind hand outs and focus and teaching them what then need to do in order to get ahead in this world.

Its best to teach a man to fish then to give him fish.

+1000000

but it shouldn't be "get as many fish for yourself, and let them rot and nobody else gets any".... thios is how I feel about the outgoing prez. ;)

The constant everythings a-ok attitude while I watched the economy spin out of control, followed by the instant "ERMAHGERD" with the bailout plan. And, living off of oil investments while taking extended vacations. Oh, and the war.  Which I was all for...if it has a purpose, which I now feel has been lost somehow.

The government is the last thing you want in the economy, they are messy and cost a lot.  Its best to let it be a free economy but if it gets bad enough the government is the last call.  We hit that about a month ago, it got so bad that we had no choice but to bring in the government.  It is a very emotional market and the BEST thing a president can do is try to keep the people calm.  Yes, by trying to tell people that everything is ok, because for the most part it was an easy fix if investors weren't so jumpy.  Yes, he has investments....good for him and so do I, I sure hope its ok for me to live off of them.  And I don't see that he's taken any more time off then other presidents.  And the war, well we all were going off the intel we had, including him.  We were all there behind him back then.  But then it turned out the intel was wrong (parts of it) and he got the blame.  Not like it was the first time that we received bad intel and it wont be the last, you just have to act with what info you have and be ready for the backlash if its wrong.  And as general petraeus once said about the short search for wmd's....."Its a damn big desert".  I've gotten to know an woman from iraq who married one of my parents friends and she had quite a different story then what we've been hearing on our media, the only differences....hers is first hand.

So what has Bush done to fall into that category?

He'll leave office a wealthy man, while the rest of us have taken it on the chin.

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm*) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

*Factoid: Franklin Pierce was the first president to use the word affirm rather than swear.

In my opinion, he has not executed to the best of his ability or preserve the three main branches of government: Executive, Legislative, or Judicial.

I won't elaborate, but I think a large majority of us would say the same thing.

I understand the whole "Reverse Phychology" thing. But.. It seemed as though Bush turned his head and looked the other way vs. trying to "calm" the people of our country. It was apparent when they issued the stimulus checks that we were having issues. They thought that'd fix it....

I'd be interested in hearing that girls story that's so different. Because I've heard from a few of my friends that have experienced it first hand over in the sand box. And they've both said... Osama said they hi-jacked the planes.. Bush said... WHAT?!  ??? IRAQ?  ??? Saddam?  ???

He went in a wealthy man, what president isn't loaded?  And I'm doing ok.  Many Americans aer not doing ok due to other factor.  I think the blame can rest on a lot of other shoulders.  Thank the unions for pushing wages so high that companies have no choice but to leave the country....and that's just a start.

What should he of done different?  I would like to know.

That's such a small ratio of their total population.... when you're comparing to nearly 30 million.

Although I'm grateful they are happy for us being there. Bush could have said. We're helping solve a CIVIL war.

I'm just fed up hearing about "THE WAR ON TERROR"

I know myself as well as my family never agreed that the war was just..

She has a great story, she's been doing a speaking tour the last few months.  For starters, her mom is able to own a home for the first time in her life, her sister can go to school, they are getting power, water and a working infrastructure.

And since the Iraq war started al qaeda has been sending men by the 1000's to Iraq to "kill Americans"  And they have been getting killed in record numbers.  If you ask me I would much rather have them sending their men there to be killed by our boys then to have them sending them here to blow up another building....hence the reason its called the war on terror.
