finally "tested" out my grab bar. (pics added in OP)

some of you may remember when i built my custom grab bar i was worried about it breaking my subframe if i put it back on it hard enough. i built the mounts out of 3/8" bar stock and that is why i was worried. but anyway my story


so my buddies called me up to go out riding yesterday. and i said sure. so me and the girlfriend hopped on the quads and took off with them. well all was going to well until we got out into the country and they started doing the "slow wheelie". you know where from a dead stop you bring it up and ride it out really slow like. well i have tried this in the past and i put it back on the bar then. (that was before i made my custom bar)


so think i have been riding for a while now i could probably do this now. so put my right leg back on the seat (mistake #1) then i pull the front end up. well obviously it came up fast as hell. so i went ahead and shifted to second hoping the higher gear would bring it down a little. nope it was in the power band prefectly. so what do you know it went up even higher. so i hit 3rd, and i'll be damned it made it right into the sweet spot in the power band again. so it shot up hit the bar really hard right on the pavment.

apparently when the bar hit it had enough force to kick my right leg off. my knee hit the road doing i say about 30 MPH. i manage to pull my knee up off the road but couldn't get my boot back up. so my leg was just draging behind me with my steel toe touching the ground. and i drug like that for i'd say a good 30-40 feet.


injury report:
my right knee has a spot of road rash that's about 2 inches around.
for what ever reason i don't know my right shin hurts like a bitch.
my pants have a huge hole in the right knee now.
my right steel toe boot had the leather ground off of it all the way down to the steel.
my grab bar has some wicked road rash on it. (have to take it to work and hit it with the buffer, i hope it will take it off)

but nothing broke. so i built this thing just right.

what i learned:
i suck at the "slow wheelie"
the back brake doesn't work all that great when you can't hit the peddle.
thank GERD for steel toe boots

  glad your bar held up to the test, your shin hurts probably because you have dragged your foot an more then likley have pulled the muscle.

nope it was the last night...and I had already welded her once. You don't need the flag at night. Just lights.

Two more days Nuccas!!!!!!!!!!!! I have packed three cameras!
