what should i do with my rappy :s

Hi guys thats pretty much the first time i post on this forum even if i read it for few weeks now. Well anyway i wanted your opinion about my little problem. 2 months ago i bought a raptor 660 2001 which have cost 3200$ ,  so far i didnt had much problem with it only changing the carb joints and doing the normal maintenance. But this weekend my transmission got stuck between 2 gears and i called to the garage to get an estimation about how much it would cost to repair it and they told me its a 5hours job with means 300$ + the parts that they need to change ( 120$ if its only a gear and and to add another 150$ if they have to change the shaft ) so i was wondering if its really worth to put that much money in this quad after i heard from every1 that those raptor (2001-2002) has ****ty transmission and they're always broken. Or i should just keep it like this and try to sell it ( i should be able to get about 2500 for it where i live ) and buy something else ?

Well i'm waiting ur reply coz right now i really can't decide what i should do -.-

First off Welcome aboard 

Second, I would be more inclinded to find a used 2003+ tranny (post up an add in the ATV parts wanted section and see what happens?)  Since you Just shelled out 3200.00 for your quad, and won't get anything near that for it in it's current condition, fixing it would be my suggestion.

2002 Tranny Kit to repair it....$400.   Do a search. It is a time consuming job, but worth it.  Not really difficult. Check out this website:

Your English makes me think you are in another country. Where are you at that you can get 3200 out of an 2001 raptor, I will sell mine there.

 :lol:Haha well sorry for my "not perfect" english xD.  I live in quebec ( canada ) so my main language is french thats why im not that good in english , hope you understood anyway :x  And hm yeah quads price are high here thats stupid , thats why i was thinking of buying my next 1 from the US   Well ill take a look for other tranny but hm , you're sure i can put on a 2003+ tranny on a 2001 raptor ? sorry for my ignorace im quite new to the quad world

I guessed french.   Yes, 2001-2005 are interchangeable.

happened to my 02 raptor and i used that site and the online manual. had a few problems along the way but ehey were all my fault but im happy as ever to ride it now. so i say two thumbs up to fixing it yourself, sure itll be time consuming, but youll learn a lot and save a ton of money.
