I currently have a Big 3 and am lookin to do a motor this winter. I know that Im going to do an 11:1, P&P, Cam, SS Kibblewhite Valves, PC III, and a Dynatek box. And duals later.

My question is should I go for the stage III or stay safe with the Stage II hotcam?? I do run 90% trails, but a lot of the time they are more or less fire roads, so I can spend quite a bit of time in the higher rpms. Am I going to lose too much low end with the stage III?/ Thanks Guys

Id go with a stage 2. We lug the engine to much in the trails for a stage 3 IMO.  And low end torque is whats needed most. I think a stage 3 would lack that.

yeah, i know, but I hate being out in the open and having to shift the bike all the time just to keep the revs low. Plus, what kind of HP increase am I loojin at with the stage III??? I also saw some where on here that you can even it up some with the dynatek Ign, and put a custom curve on it.

Any ideas???

I think its a few hp gain in the top over the hc2 but it gives up some low end. I love my setup for where we ride. I think you'd be happy with it.

Yea I saw a dyno graph were the dynatek with a custom curve "recovered" the low end.
Seems like the way to go  ???

dont go to the point where you cant ride trails due to engine temps its always a balance

I think the HC2 is a great cam for the trails with the setup you're talking about.  I have pretty much that setup and just recently changed to the HC3, there was a noticeable loss in low end.  I think the HC2 has plenty of top end for most types of riding.  I have to shift more with the HC3 to keep it in it's "happy place" than I did with the HC2.

id go stage 2 for the trails.....IMO...but then again u really could take advantage of that extra power fom the P&p and throttle body with the hc3
