Gotta love that $1700 gas guzzler tax on the Viper.

It's better than the $3000 on previous Viper models though.

The Challenger even has a gas guzzler tax too. Dodge needs to work on that six speed transmission and get their fuel economy up on all of their products. That would really help selling them. Right now we are selling more GM products because they get better fuel economy vs. our Dodge, Chrysler Jeep line. The only thing that doesn't need much refinement are the Cummins powered trucks. I think they are doing a great job there.

So you went and checked out the Corvette Peels?  There's a few changes in the 2009 model, not too much, just Bluetooth, and radio controls on the steering wheel are standard. The Chevrolet dealer down the street from me has an Atomic Orange Z06 on the showroom.

Is this the color you saw?

~Brian

looked like it..just with the dark oversized wheels and windows tinted. Looked nice.

Cool.

The only built 809 Z06's in that color <Jetstream Blue> for 2008.

actually had one of the best days of woods/mountain riding I can remember.  Becuase we've had so much rain lately, there was zero dust and my buddy and I could stay right with each other the entire time without dusting each other out.  We're both very competitive so we push each other hard.  Awesome work-out for sure, and I wish I knew the total milage we put on, but I'm sure it was allot.

BTW, fifth gear with barkers= rocketship  :grin_nod:

Then they can market it as a "purists car" and people will buy it, beliveing not having cup holders makes them eccentric. I love the car business sometimes. Like when VW put the damn flower vase in the dash of the new beetle...It is a gimmick.
the original viper didnt have door handles out side, no power windows ,no cup holders, no radio, and no top. think thats a gimick? its what the viper is. its not a refined car, its not meant to be a daily driver.
people dont get the viper and thats fine, its not for everyone. the viper is an awsome car but it is alot of money. the vette z06 is a great car for its money, and it does some things better then the viper. but the viper and the z06 are 2 completly different cars

it is more of an oversight turned gimmick. Engineering says "it will cost XX amount of dollars to design door handles" sales says "too much, not necessary, we will market it as a purist car tto explain the lack of amenities" You are right RK, it is what it is. But for anything north of 50k for a car, it damn well better have everything I need. he vette looks like it has gone even more upscale. When I used to work at the dealer, I drooled over the 95 ZR1. Bright aqua metallic. It sat there for 6 months. They let me drive it a few times. Nuts...seeing as how I was 18 at the time. :grin_nod:

The '95 ZR1 was a four cam 32 valve 404 horsepower car. At the time, it was the BOMB!!!!! I remember having one at our store. Amazing car.

Today's Corvette coupe will have up to 436 horsepower from the factory, and today's ZR1 has a whopping 638 horsepower. Amazing how times have changed.

no kidding? damn.  I like the sharp, square lines of modern cars. THat old ZR1 with it's wedge looking design was awesome. And the feeling of being in a Military jet when driving. I still love that paint color. Code-9794, I think. Yeah I was obsessed. THe aqua/light gray combo was my fave.  I really wanted that car.

I saw a '91 Zr1 on Ebay a couple of months ago with 5K on the clock for sale.

Very advanced car for it's time.

Vette is on the "bucket list"  Will do something like that when the kids are older. What I would really love is an old daily driver cond. Ferrari. The mondiale - late 80's, early 90's -4 seat convertible. Not the most exquisite of imports, but still the same rear engined, Italian V8 rumble. You can get those in decent condition in the high 30's.  :grin_nod: By the time I get there, the bucket list will be too big -unmanageable.

Remember how I was talking about the girls trip? We take sep[arate vacations. Next year we are going to coordinate them. Buddy and I will drive to Pismo with quads in tow(san luis obispo, California) the wives will fly. Gonna sneak a visit to Glamis in there, too. Moma and Dad will fly out too, and wrangle the kids for a few days while we are duning and the women shop etc. Then meet up and take the kids to disney and sightseeing.  I will get my cake and eat it too.  By the way, they are still going to Memphis. Apparently, they could not be swayed by a forum administrator with a penchant for porn!

I hope the have a safe trip to Memphis. Tell them to be VERY careful there.

You can find old Ferrari 308's  <The Magnum PI car> pretty cheap, but there is a reliability factor to consider on Italian Sports cars. You don't see many Ferraris with 20K on the clock. It gets expensive to own after the warranty goes out on cars like that.

part of the fun would be working on them. Oh and hell yeah, get a hawaiian shirt, perm my hair, and wear nut hugger shorts while driving a 308. Magnum all the way.  Thought it was a 328 though. Not much different I guess.

here's a pic of my youthful dream car. It was not a ZR1, I was mistaken. Still looks modern enough to be rolling off the assembly line.

And... the mondiale was a mainstream higher volume car-more for the masses than for ferrari purists. They are more user-friendly than most.

this is the one. 4 seat convertible. Mondiale.  Not a very popular car among collectors, not the huge resale of the supercars.

I know this car. Backseat is tiny like a 911's. Christie Brinkley drove one in the movie Vegas Vacation.
