I need a tip I have been building subwoofer boxes and the one I made so far is not bad it looks pretty good. But i need a tip on how to strech the fleece over the wooden frame. I keep gettin wrinkles in it. and i have to apply lot of boddy filler to smooth it out. Its a pain so if i could get the fleece tight it would eleminate this problem. One other thing i think my fleece might be too heavy if ya know what i mean. should I use light weight fleece?

Thanks Blueyamaha

Whatever you're using is not flexible enough. You should be able to stretch most of the wrinkles out. Do you have any pics of your project?

What are you trying to do? If you are using fiberglass mat it is very stiff. If you are using cloth go to a lighter cloth, say 10 oz. I am not sure what you are doing with body filler "Bondo" and fiberglass together. Normaly you would use a laminating resin to apply the fiberglass then a filler sanding resin to fill the cloth and then sand. All of these steps are after the resin has set up. When the job is where you want it the apply a gloss finish coat. That is how I have always hand laminated fiberglass. Now jel coating and chopper gun shooting is a whole different game. If you are using Bondo to fill cracks you should not need mat. Just fill in with the Bondo ,sand and paint. Hope this helps?

You were right I tried a t shirt It was 50 50 blend it went so easy and its not as thick as the fleece i used. I can save way more resisn this way. Thank you very much!!

I have since sanded the piss outta it. Takes a lot of sanding right now until i get better at laying down the mat. What ya think? My Firt one

I learned how to do it from the internet. Just typed in fiberglass in google and went from there. Once ya get the hang of it its not that hard to do.

don't use fleece, use spandex.....it works much better, stretch and staple the spandex, cover it with resin, once it hardens glass away!!!!!
sold the raptor....full on 05 yfz in progress...

stock parts: fuel tank, swingarm and rear shock

Old fiberglasser trick. After sanding take a cold shower first to get the dust off . The cold water keeps the pores of your skin closed and you will have less itch!!! You can then take a warm one. Have fun it is always cool to learn a new skill.

I itched all day today on my arm... I itch right now... Once the temp goes down ill wear a long sleeve. Hope that helps.

That would work nicely. I used speaker grill cloth I bought from radio shack and it worked great.

blueyamaha

So far i have got about $75-$90. But the list includes
2 quarts of resin (should of bought a gal its cheaper in the long run)
