so i have had my raptor apart for quite some time and recently finished putting everything back together. it was apart because the reverse gears teeth were messed up so i tore it down. on the assembly, only everytying went wrong, from a broken cam, to a broken clutch basket, to stripped threads. my only hope was to start it up today no questions asked. but no, that would be too easy and no fun. when i turn my key, my neutral light doesnt illuminate. i tried to jump it with my car, but no light and a clicking from the battery, and my oil light is dim when i try to jump it. i also have a very hard time shifting, but im guessing its cause the motor is completly out of oil so i imagine it wont shift too smoothly until it put the full amount through the motor. please any suggestions would help, im on my last nerve with this thing.

loose ground? weird one there. Your still dim with a jump? you may have to work the gears a bit to get it to move-if it has been sittin awhile. Don't get discouraged, it is worth the work in the end.

Oh, and welcome to the site.

thanks, i dont think its a ground, unless the relay in the battery compartment needs a ground. theres a screw hole for it but no wire so im no sure. i just dont want to start it up and hear nothing but metal clanking together that would ruin me

Krandall

clicking usually means there's not enough juice to the battery to engage the starter. I would double check your ground wire coming from the starter

yeah its weird that i am still dim with a jump, and it really bothers me that my neutral light isnt illuminated at all. i can shift, sloppy, but i can tell it is in neutral because i can push it freely, is there a certian ground or sensor for my neutral light. i havent tinkered with the dash.

or the motor's locked solid and the starter CAN'T push it over.....take it apart again....

comforting words, but the piston and cam both move freely when i timed it, the clutch engages and disengages, and my trans spun freely as well so im not so sure what could be locked up.

ThisGuyAlex

check and clean ALL the grounds, cleck the start switch.....etc cover all your electric basics first, pull the starter and hook it up to a battery charger on a bench and see if it works properly....(bench test)

but my light? checked my bulb and connections and seem fine, my oil temp and reverse work so im not sure

racinjason68

did you check to make sure the neutral light wire is hooked up to the right terminal on the case?  I am sure you have but best to double check.
Gonna be stupid you better be tuff.

Got duals ?

makeyourselfsick00

Ha, started it, leaking oil where the case meets the cylinder head. carbs leak gas. shifting down is extreamly hard.  :( oh boy

1badazz_700r

buy another one and keep this one for parts and the :'( will be over :). plus you will get to enjoy some riding.Sounds to me like your going to have to strip this down again to replace the base gasket and sounds like the carbs need cleaned and overhauled. Dont give up though from this point it can only get better
