I know a few of you are running diffrent Coils and wires than stock.  Can you please post up the components your using, performance results if available and pictures of the set-up if you have them?

Thanks

I'd be interested in this as well. Others and myself have found so far, that the best and most relaible combo has been is the stock coil with a dynatek programable ign. The nology coil a buddy gave me to try didn't play well on mine. I heard Shotcaller didn't have any luck with the nology as well.

Kenny has a pretty slick set-up that he told me about, I PMed him a link to this thread hoping he'd share more.

Lets hope he does.....that crazy bugger ;) comes up with some good idea's

I remember that someone on RF removed the resistor fromt the stock setup and put a 7mm wire on and gained just over 1hp.
Just a little 81hp trail bike.

I've done some testing with mine, the biggest issue I've found is that the coil mounts suck, and the signal lead wires can get "feedback" via the frame.

I was trying to find the thread about it. I forget who did it. I want to say it was Kenneth (KBM)

I'll be doing some experimenting this winter on a loaded eddie current dyno....you can get very consisten results and good accurate data with the eddie currents. I'll try a few different coil and wire combos and share the results I come up with.  As long as I have a job anyway....dyno time ain't cheap, but what I have had has payed big dividens on my build and put a :grin_nod: on my face.

What kind of coil is that??

RaptorRandy

What brand of coil is that Kenny and what's it weigh? Has it been run long term to see if it's caused any wierdness on the 700R ?  What kind of gains did you see ? Questions , questions, questions  ;)  :)

When that bitch was right it would rock-n-roll. It was rarely right. That is a Jacobs ultra with 60,000 volts. It simply drained to much current through the factory ECM. The impedance was less than 1 Ohm. I could put a 3 Ohm resistor in series and it would live about an hour, but that bitch was screamin' for that hour, so the potential is there. I used an extended tip plug opened to .060" gap, and WOW! I am eyeballing a coil right now that does 60,000 volts, but it has a 3 Ohm impedance. I am also trying to have a multi-strike box manufactured that will of course have multi-strike abilities, but will serve as a "line driver" as well. This will use the box to trigger the coil and completely remove any strain on the ECM. The wire and plug worked extremely well

I think i have a way around your ECM draw issue, I'd need to take mine apart though
