Does anybody know all the trick to uncork them. I went to the sand with my daughter and the quad would not climb anything.
pleaser refer to the last 2 characters of your title. that will explain EVERYTHING :grin_nod:
Unscrew the throttle restrictor, and there is engine kits for them...
I know I have to take out the clutch limiter, washer at the beginning of the head pipe, and sparky. I know there has to be more than that. Going to buy new filter soon, and get into the carb. I don't really want to bore it though.
not to be a dick but I dont really think it would be worth buying mods for..

I don't blame you....Tried a different sprocket yet?

No not yet. I paid $1500 for it and it was fine when she was 4 now that she is almost 6 its getting to be slow for her. I would like not to buy another quad until she is 9 so she can get a Rappy 250, but I think thats not going to happen. :(
Good news is that kids bikes are hard to find, and new ones are expensive. You'll be able to clean house when you sell it!
Finding a replacement she can ride is a tough one.
~Brian
she could probably handle your 525 easy giver her that and upgrade to a YFZ! everybody wins
I hear you. I just don't want to buy an Apex 90 with a two stroke and have her be in over her head. I can't find any Pred 90s used and be damned if I buy another new one.

The Raptor 50 is pretty damn weak also so is the 80.

What I remember reading
1. Clutch spacer
2. washer restricting exhaust mounted @ the beginning of the head pipe
3. washer restricting the intake mounted @ the carb
4. sparky can be modified with a larger washer welded in to maintain USFS Regs.
5. K&N w/Outerwares upgrade
6. Drilling holes in the airbox lid
7. possible air baffle in the airbox or intake ( I don't remember )
8. In the carb there's a removable jet that restricts fuel
9. DynaTek Ignition advances the timing ( $175 Ebay )
10. Rejet
11. Exhaust pipe
12. 88cc race engine
7 of these mods are free to the consumer & jetting & K&N are cheap mods
I read about this on Z400 central & the popular opinion was that the DynaTek was a big gain, definately worthwhile. A Z50 with all 11 mods could & would spank 80 & 90 quads all day providing they weren't Cobra's or Pro Sharks. Oh yea, with most mods performed the Igniton Timing is so stupid that it leaves the little 50 hitting the very low RPM limiter & thank DynaTek that their igniton raises the RPM limiter
Polarass525 - I think you & Tommy could fab a header pipe for the quad & see what that does for it. It looks as if a conduit bender would work for making the header
Can you tell me the year? It depends on the year it is as to the different mods. Spark arrestor and clutch ring are the first 2. The 08' models also have a rev limiter that will keep it at bay. If its newer, the "work around" isnt the same as the 06 and below. I am in the same process as you are looking for more power. Kymco is the maker so the mods you and I do will be identical depending on the year. I also just recieved a letter about a recall on the carb hanging in full open. Wonder if thats why my 7 yr old hit that tree???
Its an 06 4 stroke
Yeah, we have the same one. There is a pep up kit sold. Ill find the URL and send it your way. Do you know about the change on the CDI?
No I don't any help would be great though. Thanks

Is it safe to say you have opened up the thumb throttle and removed the belt sleeve? The power up kit is $350.00 and up and from what i gather is pretty tough. I am waiting a little bit because my two are insame as is. Check out the pics

I know the kid & she's pretty sharp for a 6 year old. I wonder what the hell she's thinking about when she rides ???
My nephew is always paying attention to who's watching him vs driving (crash yet to happen)
my memories going. www.hetrickracing.com I emailed them and got a quick response. The site doesnt list the 4stroke options, but they have it...... :hammer: Look at the power up kits for the 50's and 90's......Thats what i am doing next to theirs.
Thanks I'll get on the phone with them soon
